Interesting opposing presentations with these two albums from DW/Mondo. I would venture that the Nicolai is more well-known and could have a much larger customer base. The Frizzi score is a bit obscure, and his other works are far more popular. I have listened to the CD release of Scorpion with Two Tails on Cometa for a while now, but I have not seen this album discussed much. In my opinion, the various "melody" main themes are beautiful:
The album also has a vocal number "Living the Past", and there are some really percussive tracks along with a couple dark ambient(ish) electronic tracks. Overall, it's an enjoyable album.
The decision to release a /500 run picture disc is surely to cause discussion here and elsewhere, and I think I will just stay out of it. :) The art object vs audiophile debate will never end. I do like when a standard LP sleeve and jacket is included instead of a PVC sleeve. I have been throwing out any PVC due to all the reports of off-gassing damaging vinyl records.
The Nicolai album looks stunning! Can't wait to pick up a copy. Great stuff, @Spencer.
