I decided to finally pick this up. I've been eyeballing one at a store in Minneapolis for the past few months. I was waiting to see if a black vinyl edition was going to make it over here. I read that some were released in the UK. All four sides of this colored varient sound really good with very little surface noise. I'm really glad I decided to drop on this one. What a great release!

Great spins again the last couple of days. I haven't had a lot of time this year to sit back and enjoy my vinyl.
@jgibbs: fantastic stuff!
@Deaf and Million: agree!

Guys guys GUYS!!!

I don't know how many y'all may be sleeping on this, I know I've seen Texas and a couple others post props....but seriously now. This may just be one of the best soundtrack album listens I've had of the past 5 years or so.

I knew I was gonna dig it because I love love loved the show, and payed full fuckin attention to every damn cue as it was layed in. My only concern as an LP was that as they're used in the show the cues are often really short - punchy, perfectly dropped, and powerful, but very short. It's actually one of the signatures of the show that I really picked up on and liked a lot - the use of individual little 'stinger' themes that lead you through the different character's stories. But how would this work as a (double LP) listen?

No fear home slices, this record packs a huge punch and the sheer breadth of scoring and musicianship on display by Younge & Shaheed Muhammad and their orchestra is a truly joyous thing. It feeds from Lalo Schiffrin, heavily lays in some David Axelrod, brings us right up through RZA/Wu Tang, all dashed with sweet soul and OG funk stylings (not to mention spaghetti western and chop-sockey feels!)...fuck, there's even some Fantastic Planet in the mix! Damn - just on that basis, this score feels like it was drawn straight from my cerebral cortex/pleasure receptors and gives me the goods non-stop.

After the 2nd listen, I'd already separated the music score from it's origins and it's inspiring original thoughts and reactions in me - everything I want from a film album!

At the risk of over-selling this...I'm just gonna have to use a word that I genuinely reserve for rare occasions: ESSENTIAL.

Kicking myself for not grabbing a copy sooner!

I remember SJ playing some on The DFC but not being overly taken...I was clearly having an off day because this is amazing.

Potentially my favourite Morricone score.

I also passed initially. After I binged the show I was in love, so I was stoked when mondo dropped a few more of the yellow on line a few weeks ago I had to grab it.

@ScoJo and MW - Anything Adrian Younge does - anything - is worth your time. That is not an exaggeration. Glad to see this getting some love in here.

Luke Cage is amazing. Expensive though. ended up costing me 66$ CAD. The cheapest I've seen it would have costed me 57$ CAD. These Mondo releases are getting expensive. But it's definitely a standout release, it's great!

Humanoid is also great. and Odd score from Morricone, lots of electronica, I immediately was interested in it on the first spin for how different it is from the rest of Morricone's work.

my copy has an issue w 1 track but other than that I think it sounds good. Considering it's price I would def suggest picking up a copy
