Marco at Cinedelic is on fire... Three more heavy pieces coming very soon (in about three weeks). The paint splatter cover for Al Sint is exciting. That art cover version of the original is ghastly rare.

GIACOMO DELL’ORSO - A ME STESSO CON SIMPATIA
Format: limited edition LP + download card (black or multicolor vinyl)
Catalogue: CNLP48
LP Black vinyl 23,00€
LP Multicolor vinyl 28,00€

This 1975 album is a studio session organized by Maestro Giacomo Dell'Orso (the husband of Edda) here released under his given name and not the Oscar Lindok pseudonym under which he made a number of recordings including The Fine Machine. This album had the simple purpose of a fun and playful session without preconceived models.
The result is a carefree album, from the friendly cover (Orso means Bear) to the music that is interwoven with bossa nova, samba, jazz and funk in a style that recalls in many ways the work of Maestro Piero Piccioni.

Dell'Orso plays organ, electric piano and Bulisacchio (a synth with metal slats that simulate bass), Nino Rapicavoli on flute and sax, Jimmy Tamborelli on guitars and Ciro Cocozza on percussion.

Lato A: 1) UN ITALIANO A MANHATTAN / 2) CLEMENTINA UN DUE TRE / 3) SAMBATICO / 4) IERI SERA A RIO / 5) HIPPY PIU’ CHE MAI
Lato B: 1) CIAO CARIOCA / 2) DOLCE EMMA / 3) BALLA HERMOSA / 4) VALZER SOUVENIR / 5) NON MI VA GIU’

FRANCO CHIARI - AL SINT
Format: limited edition LP splashes of pain unique cover + download card (black or multicolor vinyl)
Catalogue: CNLP49
LP Black vinyl 23,00€
LP Multicolor vinyl 28,00€

Franco Chiari, born in 1927 in Naples, was an eclectic artist who is considered a bit of a wildcard of keyboard instruments: he played the piano, accordion, synthesizer, vibraphone and marimba in both jazz and symphony. For three consecutive years (1957/58/59) he won the National Jazz referendum, was vibraphonist in the national TV Orchestra and participated in numerous important broadcasts. He received many awards in his career, and numerous are the artists who have wanted to play live alongside him, including Lionel Hampton, Stéphane Grappelli, Django Reinhardt, Piero Piccioni, Armando Trovajoli, Lelio Luttazzi, and more.
In this album released in 1973, the most groovy in his career, and now the most wanted from collectors, he rearranges the compositions of Mario Bertolazzi electronically with the use of synthesizer on rhythms ranging from latin beats to funk.

Numbered limited edition with digital downloads included and an amazing cover with splashes of paint, making each copy unique and unrepeatable.

A1 Love Ride To Montecarlo / A2 Ufo Message / A3 Strauss, Dove Sei? / A4 Bossanova Du Du Da / A5 La Ranocchia Impazzita
B1 Mi Manchi Troppo / B2 A Taste Of Beat / B3 Barocco, Ma Non Troppo / B4 Rio Tu Ed Io

THE PHYSICIANS - THE PHYSICIANS
Format: limited edition LP + insert + download card (black or multicolor vinyl)
Catalogue: CNLP51
LP Black vinyl 23,00€
LP Multicolor vinyl 28,00€

Behind this incredibly rare 1973 album lurks CAMPO DI MARTE (the highly regarded Italian progressive rock band) in their second incarnation. After the release of their debut album the group performed at numerous concerts but only released this one album under the pseudonym of THE PHYSICIANS. They were called by the producer Giuseppe Cassia in Rome to record this album, which was produced in a day, and it's amazing to feel the harmony between the band members, all from Livorno and led by the excellent guitarist Enrico Rosa who the following year would be transferred abroad in Denmark in order to better express his art.
There are many memorable jazz-rock tracks on the album that recall the British band Nucleus, such as "Jazz in the Cellar", "My girl from Harlem" and "East Side Rhythm" but with a unique and personal style.

The band, besides the aforementioned Enrico Rosa, included Loriano Berti, nicknamed whistle, coming from Capitolo 6 on sax and flute, Andrea Colli on drums (who in the future would also collaborate with Demetrio Stratos) and Sergio Ducilli on electric bass.

Some tracks on the album, easily recognizable mostly bossa style, were later added by the producer Giuseppe Cassia.
The album includes a 4 pages insert where you can read the Enrico Rosa’s memories relevant to this production related rare vintage photos.

Lato A: 1) Jazz in the cellar / 2) Sentimental flute / 3) Irish theme / 4) That funny Rio / 5) Sexy rendez-vous
Lato B: 1) My girl from Harlem / 2) Keep on dancing / 3) Thirty years ago / 4) Tortuga cha cha cha / 5) East side rhythm

Bezulsqy - Seeing the date is August 12 it probably has something to do with Barnes & Noble's "Vinyl Day" on the 13th - I was at a B&N today and was looking for this but they didn't have it but now seeing your post with the date it makes sense and what is nice it can be pre-ordered and not just an in-store exclusive

Werkstatt Recordings just released Beatbox Machinery's Amiga Outrun package. It comes in a box set with a bunch of goodies, but for the run time on the actual recordings and the price I'm taking a pass. There may be some folks here that like it though. As of the date of my post, 4 of the package deals remain, so they are selling...

@Spun - I recall hearing the same in that podcast, and even had planned to mention it here, but spaced it. :) Interesting news.

Does anybody have more information about the Varese/Cinefantastique "Motion Picture Score Series" on 7" vinyl? Are they all promo/exclusive items, or are they for sale in record stores or online distros?

Oddly enough Deaf, regarding Varese/Cinefantastique "Motion Picture Score Series" on 7".

I went to the local flea market last sunday and what do i see on a table amidst a bunch of other junk, a pristine copy of The Omen 7" from the series. grabbed it for $3, even though i have swore off 7"s for the most part. This was only available in one of those horror box subscription services?

Haven't seen any others so far.

@monster - Yep, I saw that as well and totally caved. Also picked up The Omen for about the same shipped. Damn Varese exclusives are impossible to resist.

I picked these up as well, and was thrown at first at the Cinefantastique Magazine logo - the last issue was published in 2006 - and wondered if these might have been some sort of unreleased things that was discovered in the deceased publisher's holdings. But as we know now they're new items. Film Score Monthly founder Lukas Kendall is on the credits, although I don't know his actual involvement; neither score was released on his FSM CD label, but on Varese as logo'd on the front cover.
