@Dollarhyde

Thanks, that was fun. I would keep going right now if I hadn't been called into work along with more family duties. Maybe another round tonight...

@Evan

Did you miss those 7 Note auctions on eBay.it from the last few years like I did? No idea why they didn't show up in my alerts either. I got lucky on this copy, and the condition is unreal. I have to say that most of these original 45's sound better than their modern remastered editions... most, but not all. ;)

Also, I saw some complaints about the quality of the Twisted Nerve 45, but my copy seems to play decently without surface noise or issues. I'm not sure of the quality of the masters, but it sounds ok to me. I think I will just stick with the 45 for now based on what I'm hearing about the LP "package".

@deaf that has happened to me many times with alerts not being sent. Only because of being proactive do you sometimes stumble upon these things buried or hidden on other ebay sites (ebay italy) I missed on ebay being too late and on a overseas site because of it going for stupid money. Yeah I feel the same for the most part about sticking with the originals...if you can find a clean one.

Re: original vs repress

Thats interesting, I'm always torn on this, for soundtracks I tend to pick up represses especially from the labels here, and originals when I see them in the wild, but for almost every other genre I am exclusively original. My other collecting obsession after soundtracks is Goth/death rock/post punk etc, followed by glam, and with very few exceptions I exclusively look for original pressings.

@Hatter313 No doubt there have been many excellent sounding reissues... beyond that these labels have given us things that sometimes have never been released, or might be too expensive to own the original. Plus they have made it downright fun with creative packaging. Original or repress...whatever we can get our damn hands on!

Well said, Evan! So many vintage original pressings are just too expensive to even consider, so bring on the represses of those. One coming soon is Zoo Folle. Trusting Four Flies to deliver the goods on that one.

I think you hit the nail on the head there Evan, the reason the ost represses appeal to me more than say a Bauhaus repress is the new art, the packaging and all the extras that make the item a special object beyond the music, that and the possibility of never before released or prohibitively expensive originals in the OST world.

@Spun - Nice! Hope all of you around the world are getting a long weekend.

Some good remixes on this LP, with Silent Servant and JG Thirwell's being my current favorites.

Such a weird giallo too.
Too true, But which giallo isn't a bit 'out there'? ;)

I guess that is part of the appeal.

I frequently lose the thread of the plot when watching them and often the ending doesn't make much sense but you have to 'go with it' and enjoy the costumes, colours, music and atmosphere I find. Also the pace can be painfully slow at times compared with modern dramas. But when all the right elements come together it can transport you to another time and place, just like a classic score.
