Sad story. suicide brought on from depression caused by severe nerve damage in his right hand that was negatively effecting his keyboard playing. :(

First and foremost, RIP Keith Emmerson. Spinning Nighthawks as I type. Such a waste.

@Texas - El Huervo has some very cool stuff. Thanks for the hot tip and good luck getting all that grout off your deck.

@Monster & Static - I couldn't agree more about Shogun Assassin; absolutely essential. I discovered the movie and it's score over Christmas break in 1996 after hearing what I still consider to be the best hip-hop record of all time, Genius' Liquid Swords. For those who don't know, Shogun Assassin is all over that record and serves as the sample base for the vast majority of the production. Killer stuff all 'round.

Does anyone who is more of an expert than I have a view on how lathe cut disks are supposed to sound - I was imagining a sound quality somewhere between a standard 7-inch and a flexi disk in my ignorance, but this sounds pretty sharp & squeaky clean to my ears...?
I have some lathe cut 7" from Joyfulnoise Recordings and they sound by far more worse. The sound quality is absolutely ok on these. The only question: 33rpm or 45rpm????

33rpm I think... at least the two Transmission cuts sound better that way to my ears! ;)

The sound quality is actually great on these... I was surprised it was so great in fact, being my first experience of a lathe cut square 7-inch

For those of you who appreciate the silly side of the macabre, I just snagged this unbelievably awesomely campy pretty decent condition 1960 slice of Horror Americana, as I call it.

What was Zacherly famous for aside from his prize winning cataracts? Was he a TV personality somewhere?

What he said.

He was the east coast vampira counterpart, and one of the original horror hosts. If the campier side of 50s horror culture appeals to you in the least, he's a must.

He's still alive too, 97 years old and probably looks just like his makeup these days. My father saw him walking around in full get up in the city once in the 70s.

That's fucking electric. I love the cheese and it sound like he lived the gimmick. I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of him, but I'll go on a Youtube hunt soon...

Really enjoying this. Really well put together and great for the kids too. Here's the description from the Trunk website: DESCRIPTION
JONNY TRUNK - 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA
20,000 Leagues. The classic steampunk novel. Here it is, in full. In a gatefold sleeve, with a blue vinyl LP of music by yours truly. The publishers (Four Corners Books) came to me and asked if I'd be interested in making an LP with a book, or music for a book or something and I immediately said yes, I will try 20,000 Leagues as it means I can try my hand at underwatery music. And that's what I have done. Artwork by cult tattooist Liam Sparkes, this releases in a fab gatefold sleeve Includes the full book, my LP and download code too. A lovely package. Or of course, just buy the download and get the music and no book.
