Here is the full 'release':
New London-based music label Spun Out Of Control has launched with a limited edition audio cassette release of the haunting score to Irish independent movie ‘Sodium Party’, written and produced by composer Steve Nolan.
Additionally, there are two further tape releases already prepped. Sharing similar musical DNA, these are very real scores… yet for fictional films… written, performed & produced by Scottish synth wizard Repeated Viewing (aka Alan Sinclair) and ultra talented young US composer Bryce Miller.
Repeated Viewing follows last year’s giallo-infused score The Three Sisters with a score to the ‘imagined’ movie ‘Street Force’, an affectionate, keyboard riff-driven tribute to Italian crime dramas (or ‘Poliziotteschi’) of the 70s and 80s.
Miller’s ‘City Depths’ is a Vangelis & Carpenter inspired soundscape, which the composer manages to make uniquely his own, via an ear for propulsive bass-driven synth lines and a multitude of meaty hooks.
First release ready to go, ‘Sodium Party’, is actually Steve Nolan’s second score, with the composer having a distinguished background in documentary work. Like any good film music, Nolan’s soundtrack for ‘Sodium Party’ elevates the movie to which it is attached to a higher level. But moreover, devoid of the surrealistic, fairytale imagery of the movie that inspired it, it makes for an enchanting, haunting and surprisingly moving standalone listen…
