With a great cover of Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World" and a gutsy call to have Meat Puppets frontmen Cris & Curt Kirkwood on the album , it ranks as one of the best albums of the 90's.

bpwlogan wrote:@Tim- looks like some terrible weather in NC today. A great time to just camp out inside and spin some wax if you can:)
I am on the emergency weather team for the library so I had to come into work but was able to get the one spin in. :)

Recently been immersing myself in the crazy yet awesome world of tokusatsu.

This series of comps is from the 80's, and is serving as a great intro to this Japanese cult. I've also begun watching some of the og series, really brilliant stuff.

@monsterworship

also features, akumaizer 3 (what first drew me to the record, has a couple of BGM tracks) plus ninja captor, Space Ironmen Kyodyne and Daitetsujin 17 (also features a few bgm tracks).

Really fun record with some great funky moments. I also picked up Vol. 3 (this one is kinda killer in places) and 5, check the link for more info.

Indeed...

Sequence #4 is my absolute favorite from the album, and it's missing from both the Fulci compilation and from the Frizzi 2 Fulci live show/album. As many others have mentioned here and elsewhere, Manhattan Baby is quite enchanting, and shows Frizzi masterfully weilding a wide range of musical influences.

Only four sequences on the Beat LP, but they are a treasure!

I waited over a year for some of these Beach Boys mono represses. It was well worth the wait!

For the most part I could care less about packaging, variants, ect... I have to say though I'm really impressed with the overall quality of this entire release.

@Deaf-I'm with you on the preorder thing. I actually ordered my copy the day it came out and just got it. I think I've had something on preorder with Soundstage Direct for the past two years straight.

@Tim-I couldn't agree more. I always order the black vinyl version if it's available. I don't think anything sounds better than a well pressed black vinyl. Transparent solid colored vinyl comes close though.

I bought this when it first hit retail, but this is it's first spin..

@bwplogan, how are those Beach Boys records? I've only bought a couple of the Capitol represses like Sunflower, Surf's Up and Pet Sounds. Would be interested to hear how Today is.
