Wow...things escalated quickly while I was sleeping. The recent threads remind me of the beginning of the Dawn of the Dead remake..all is seemingly well and then.....everything goes dark. We should start a new thread, for those people who joined up on here with the sole purpose of flipping records. Apparently that will be a very popular thread. I must say, I have been really unsuccessful here in my attempts to drive up the prices and values of all of my records so that I can take advantage of people and build my two year old's college fund. Don't you guys want my son to go to college? I jest. I love this forum because everyone is a lunatic like me -- we all love this or we wouldn't be here -- we should all try to remember that -- I know it is hard for me sometimes. That being said...who wants to buy my DW Triple Pack AP Edition for $1500? ;)

we will be refining the booklets as we go. going to make them 10 x 12 so they are easier to get in and out of the sleeve.
Looking into doing to t shirt transfers (like the old 70s ones too)
in reality these new sleeves have pushed the costs up but I still dont want to charge more than 20.
In future website orders will also ship 5 days before stores get them so at least you guys will be ahead of the curve.
Just sorted 3 Record Store Day releases out today, one of my favourite modern day composers, some completley bonkers radiophonic style madness from one of my fave films of last year and a lost classic that has two names and one of the most beautiful scores ever…..

@deathwaltz - do you know yet if these releases will be available at stores in the US on RSD? or online at LITA? i picked up Horror Business and Yellow last RSD and they both rule.

Suprise = ruined, excitment level = through the roof!
First off this board in general is AWESOME. I have found out about some great stuff, made some cool trades and most of all realize there are actually other people as nerdy as me that like to shoot the shit about cool stuff (cool to us anyway).
I for one am a HUGE fan of the lithos and am really excited about them coming. I had 5 nice frames with removalble backs made about 5 years ago that I rotate out cool album covers every few months. With the lithos my records still have a jacket and the lithos go in the frames and look sweet. Plus the awesome new jackets on the Fog and Maniac are too big for my frames.
My sub hasn't arrived yet (may have to drive to the post today in the 18" of snow we got to see if it got here) but as far as a quality product goes how great has DW been from the start and it has improved in the quality department with every release. You will never please everyone but they really seem like they are trying. I haven't personally had problems with their comunication but it sounds like they are working to improve that for people.
I am glad the RSD releases are worldwide this year, I had trouble tracking them all down last year sice they were UK only.
Now come on Mr.Postman, bring my AOP13 or I am going to wear this tape out.

RSD releases were in the US last year but may have been limited availability. I personally bought at least one of them locally on RSD.

The wait for my sub package to arrive stateside is killing me...and now there's all this forthcoming stuff to get excited about too.

Great news, Spencer. Once the mailorder/customer service issues are sorted, you'll be unstoppable!

Also, I'm really happy to hear that you'll be stopping the pre-orders. I don't know where this trend of people paying for records months in advance (and often without a solid release date) came from but it's got to stop. To be fair, DW have never been bad with this, you've always delivered in a fairly reasonable time and kept people up to date, but there are other labels who really take the piss. My view is that labels shouldn't sell products that don't yet exist.

Can't wait to see what DW have up their sleeve for 2014, if this year is anything to go by. I think with AOP13 DW has reached an absurd level of quality, surpassing even The Fog. So fun times ahead, I think!

I don't know what I'm more disappointed with - that it all got rather shouty very quickly while I was either asleep, at work, or asleep at work; that the sub surprise is out there; or that nobody did this:

:)

Anyhoos, I don't think there's a flipper issue here - there probably was when The Fog first happened, but the general vinyl buddy thing and the fact that most people who come here now hang out for quite a while means that it's difficult for people to log in with obvious usernames looking for a bargain from someone to sell on. I spent a lot of time on other boards weeding out people like that, it's something I'm rather good at :)

I don't even see the real benefit to flipping sub copies. I can see one off releases having a lot more value if they're that scarce, but the sub is a continuous thing which I would think would be more valuable when complete. Even then, the total price is pretty high at the cost to us, so to charge more on top of that would be pretty steep. I wouldn't think you'd make much money off of it that way. Anyway, I'm not sure why whomever that was brought it up, as that wasn't the issue people had in the first place.

I also agree about the preorder stuff. DW hasn't been an issue with that, but some other labels that are represented here have taken orders and money for releases that don't show up until two months or more later. At that point, the customer has lost the ability to take up the issue with Paypal if they have a dispute (since many people use that for payment). Also, I believe Paypal doesn't allow preorders like that if they find out you're using them that way. I've seen some fan based projects run into serious issues after they've taken a lot of money from people and then taken months to deliver the product; Paypal froze money and accounts. I wouldn't say any of the labels here are guilty of that, but in general, I don't think you should offer orders for something you can't deliver within 30 days (the subscription obviously excluded since it's a continuing series).

Agreed on the preorders, certain labels are taking the piss.

HI Spencer,

Just a quick question, will the Fabio Frizzi Flexi be different to the one from the Fabio Frizzi concert, that all the attendees will be getting?

Fucking hell, I don't know what I was waffling about, I'm happy to wait in silence. Received the sub today, these are the most beautiful records I own, the weight, the colour and the sound are incredible. Spencer (@deathwaltz) you deserve a queens sword to the shoulders not a drunk sword to the back, thank you for these releases.

Am spinning 237 until the neighbours ask me not to, then we can all enjoy New York Ripper.

Thanks
lots of blood sweat and tears went into these new sleeves. Myself and my designer Tim have had a fucking terrible time (as have my amazing manufacturers DMS) but it's been worth it . They feel out of the fucking world.
Glad you like em.

Just got my regular edition 237, weirdly the postie had ripped the address sticker off it; probably couldn't be arsed to get a signature. Snaffled it before someone else in my building could get their hands on it!

Looks awesome, but damn that sleeve is tight (not a whinge, I know you're already looking at this for future releases DW)

Tis the season ...

I always get the fear around this time of the year, my post is floating out to sea forgotten, alone and melting in the southern sun. Then four weeks later it turns up and I put down the phone and stop screaming to the post man. Mostly tho, it's floating in the Pacific.
