i like that the inside of the gatefold is the same print as the regular edition poster. the poster would be really cool to have, but dammit, i am running out of wall space in my house!

I checked the site expecting it to be sold out. Ordered the ost; I was looking at the total & saw the $7 but thought the $3.05 tax was part of the postage but it's not & I didn't figure that out before hitting the final button. Oh well.

The slipmats sold out, but the vinyl is still available. They must have pressed a ton cause you know they have to have sold a lot by now.

yup, I imagine they did. I really think this is their M.O. (when they can).

Aside from Drive and the first two naive releases, Mondo vinyl is not hard to come by (not even the variants)

I think it is only a matter of time before folks start to realize that unlike the posters, Mondo tries to make enough of the records so that everyone wants one can get one - and hopefully the flipping market and their victims will fade away.

I'm actually thinking Drive probably had some licensing limitations on it, otherwise there would be more of them out there too.

I have to say, I'm not crazy about the cover art on this Halloween LP. However, I love the artwork on the back cover. Kinda wish it was used for the front. Oh well, I don't know what I'm bitching about.

Well the other thing to consider on Drive is that it did get a UK release through Invada, and they did a bunch of variants (several colors, pic disc), so when you consider all the pressings from both labels, there were plenty out there, more so than others I would think.

If discogs has accurate info, Mondo pressed 1000 copies of the Drive pic disc and 4500 of the pink/black.

That does seem like an awful lot of copies to me.

Speaking of discogs, the average sale price of the black vinyl Mondo Drive is around $45. That's not *too* bad I guess.

That's more than I thought. I just have the black version. The picture disc situation was pretty crazy, with them getting lost before RSD. The prices on those are well over $100, but I don't see people paying that.

i had the black version of DRIVE, but got rid of it when my local record store called me and said they got a few of the picture disc versions in. i picked one of those up.

I can see that, I mean Drive is a pretty popular soundtrack. Halloween is maybe one of the MOST iconic horror soundtracks, so a large pressing makes sense.

I think the artwork is awesome on this release, totally fitting. I was afraid it'd be some overly detailed Taylor Stout thing. I like his work, but didn't think it'd fit this OST. I prefer the subtle take on this one.

Agree with Jeff on the artwork...same scenerio for a Jeff Proctor cover - Love the detail of the house as the "lips" with the tiny orange pumpkin

I agree. Some of the horror artwork (like the DW New York Ripper and House By The Cemetary for example) just doesn't appeal to me. I was worried they'd go in that direction with this, but was glad to see it's simple and really true to the original design aesthetic.

Sorry...but RIDICULOUS!

Regular = Admission + 1 regular edition of the poster = $85
Variant = Admission + 1 regular edition of the poster + 1 variant edition of the poster = $200
Super Variant = Admission + secret apparel item* + 1 regular edition of the poster + 1 super limited variant = $500

For an extra 300 bucks, that "secret apparel item" had better be the Royal Crown of Cambodia, lost during the 1970 coup.

All I can think of is how many records I could be buying with that money instead of wasting it on a one time viewing of a film you'll probably have seen several times, or can find on VHS on amazon for $5.

The pricing for the Mondo Mystery Movie is moderately ludicrous. That said, one of their previous mystery events involved having folks meet out in the middle of nowhere at a spooky church...then being loaded onto buses and being driven out to a shopping mall. There, they were "attacked" by zombies while running into the mall, at which point George Romero walked on stage, shot a zombie attacking the audience, and then everyone watched Dawn of the Dead. Admittedly, that's pretty damn cool. I'm not saying it's $85 blind buy (or, god help you, $300 with mystery clothing), but they've pulled off some impressive stunts in the past.

Wow, that actually sounds awesome though. Maybe they'll do something Maniac related?? I wish.

How about $500? The Dawn Of The Dead thing at $85 would be pretty cool...but you just don't know what you will get

The $500 price tag likely includes a metal variant of the poster along with the regular.

My guess for the movie is Die Hard. Around Christmas, in LA ...

Anyway, I think I found a vinyl buddy for the Halloween 35th Convention this weekend.
