@fac179: Yeah, I think it's fairly obvious by now that DW are just repressing the coloured versions and restocking the shop. No idea on numbers. Best example is the 'Let the Right One in' white vinyl, which is supposedly limited to 200 copies, but is often being restocked with 20-30 copies. I wouldn't worry about it too much though - no DW releases are particularly rare/limited, except for some of the subscription editions. Better to buy them for listening, rather than collecting

Yes, DW haven't been very transparent with their number of pressings as of late, which is a shame, since a lot of their customers are probably still collectors who would like to know the rarity (or lack thereof) of the releases they buy.

I think it's safe to say that the old releases are pressed and re-pressed in the several hundreds if not more by now and that the new releases are maybe 1000+. But that's just a guess of course.

It's also funny how some of the subscriber editions (e.g. "Escape From New York" transparent green and orange, which was supposedly 100 copies for the 100 subscribers), were suddenly being shipped out to people and turning up in stores recently (without the numbered print).

I really only trust releases that are numbered, like "A Field in England", when it comes to "collectibilty", but I still love DW and the other labels for the love and effort they put into each and every release

As for the Sub pressing I'm sure they don't just get 100 copies...what if yours was damaged in the mail and they said they couldn't get you another because only 100 were pressed...you'd be pissed - While I'm sure 200 aren't pressed to cover every Sub member a few extras are printed for above reason and when they feel all shipped well and they covered the damaged ones they random insert them here and there for the mail order or send to better shop customers that have been loyal for some time - I got the Sub press when I ordered the mail order color of The Devil's Business...now how cool was that to open up and get that...VERY COOL!

Hey folks.
We of course press over the allotted amount for damages / missing records etc. after a while when we know we don't need to replace we'll gove them to folks that have had list orders / damaged records/ bad customer service but won't include the prints etc. never normally more than 50.
we repress on single colours ..
So orange for EFNY, Halloween etc but always keep the original colourways Ltd as is splits / swirls etc .
I am happy to let you know what we press .
I think I did fuck up up LTROI and get it repressed in white .

I have been trying to make the repress of everything orange. These represses are of course not super ltd.I did notice we hadn't updated out descriptions on the site too as a few people ordered last week expecting split / swirls but got solid orange .. So apologies for that .

We have final represses of a few things for stores this Halloween and have made the covers full bleed . I'm happy to send you guys covers if you want ..

I wasn't trying to have a go, just pointing out that represses happen (you're running a business, after all!) and that people shouldn't get too carried away with how limited things are. Records should be for listening, first and foremost! And I don't think there's any lack of positive praise here for what you're doing

Good to have some clarity on the white LTROI though - I was certain something didn't seem right there And having all represses in one unified colour (I.E: Orange) is a really cool idea, although remember there will always be some people who prefer everything on black vinyl, so maybe it'd be better for all represses to be black? Just a thought.

It's a funny thing with black vinyl . I would love to just press on black 180gm because I know it's going to sound great .. But people don't want it :/ maybe I'll just repress on black from now on..

Spencer, What does "full bleed" mean when your refer to these new repress covers?

@thedeepness - 'full bleed' means all the way to the edges – I'm guessing that means the represses of the older covers will have just the art, rather than being framed in the blue 'tv frame'

Exactly we have done a small repress for out new distributor in Europe. All solid orange . 500 of each. Then will be deleting the entire early catalog until next year . So letting stocks run down naturally.

@spencer: That's kinda weird r.e: black vinyl. A nice 180g black pressing on virgin vinyl is about as good as it gets. And yeah, these releases would sound awesome that way, no doubt! Perhaps that says something about the kind of people who buy soundtracks (I.E: as collection pieces rather than for listening to). Although I think the same can be said for vinyl in general - it's cool that it's being pushed back into the mainstream, but I wonder how many people are now buying records as 'investment pieces', rather than something to be loved and used.

But if you say black doesn't sell, then perhaps it's not a good idea. No-one wants to see you go out business man!!

I think keeping everything simple and clear is the key with the colourways/represses, IMHO

yeah, a lot of the folks on here, i am sure, are buying these soundtracks to listen to them. i certainly am. so there is that on the side of black vinyl. although you need to have a pretty sweet set up to really notice much of a difference (which i am currently working on). but there is also something about opening up a clear vinyl with red blood splatter copy of ZOMBI2 that makes you gasp and stand breathless for a moment because of how cool it looks.

as for worry that a repress is going to decrease the value of your collection, i mean, who cares, right? sure it is an investment of sorts, but i for one will never sell any of these in my lifetime. and i hope that by the time i pass on to the land of the living dead, my kids will be financially secure enough to where they don't have to worry about selling my collection to stay afloat.

there will always be the folks that say, "i have this record and it is worth $500.". i don't blame them, that's a pretty amazing thing to own a vinyl record that someone is willing to shell out that much money for. but dude, if a repress comes out, it's not really worth worrying that your record is now worth only $300 or whatever. unless you are getting ready to put that baby up on ebay to pay your rent.

and @spencer, i for one welcome represses of the older out-of-stock releases so you can get the music out to more fans that maybe didn't know about these releases when they first came out, and to help you be able to keep doing what you are doing.

Yeah Layne, I've always thought the same - records only have a financial value if you're willing to sell them. And if a record is really good, then you're never going to sell it anyway! So the whole buying as an investment thing is kinda pointless.

And @layneharvey , sometimes I have this thought that one day my kids, or grandkids, will just take all my records when I'm gone, and put them in a garage sale for a buck each. And never even have listened to them. Haha.

@strangevices, nah man, i am taking great care to train my children not to sell my collection at a yard sale. when i'm dead, i don't really have a say over what happens to the collection, but they are being trained from a young age of the following:

1) if you keep the collection, don't store it in an attic or a basement that is prone to flooding. always store in a climate controlled location.

2) if you decide to sell the collection, take the time to make sure you get what it is worth. don't donate the collection to goodwill or sell the records at a yard sale. (sure that would make someone insanely happy if the right person comes along, but i don't care about those people).

i already have the entire collection in sleeves to minimize dust and what-not, so that is covered. i'll basically come back and haunt them endlessly if they go against either of the above two requests. i am putting that in my damn will.

I appreciate the info. It was not a complaint by any means, and I do love the black vinyl because I do want the best sound possible (the colored vinyl isn't of great interest to me). I just wanted to be assured that if I can't afford "They Live" this month, that it'll still be obtainable in November. Numbers don't matter, it's not important, just didn't want to miss out!

I have always said we try and keep things in stock as much as possible as I know how frustrating it is to see sold out on a website.

It's not a big deal, and nothing you should spend too much time on, but if it's not too much trouble, it would be cool to know what the number of pressings are for the different releases, including the new ones. If you just want to say "they're not limited", that's cool too.

Also after seeing Simonetti Horror Project doing Suspiria live i was hooked. Absolutely amazing.

Thanks. My Escape from New York is one of the only ones I got that didn't come with the 12" X 12" litho (that and Dannoy Darko and Zombi 2) so I would be interested in a full bleed cover of that one if there is an extra.
