Looks like Mondo acquired DW - Now, keep in mind that I am totally talking out of school in the sense that I don't know, but from a lawyer's perspective, it would appear that the assets and name of DW have been sold to Mondo and DW will now be under the Mondo name. I could be 100% wrong, but that is what it would appear to be.

So will DW distribute Mondo titles in the UK/EU?
That would be great :)

I have no doubt that DW will continue to be DW, I am pretty certain that it was a great decision, or it would not have been made. I also don't think it will change anything for the worse. More access, more releases, maybe more pressings -- everyone should be happy about that -- especially when you consider the amount of flipper rage that goes on here. I think we should raise a glass, congratulate Spencer and look forward to what is in store. Just so long as he doesn't have to move to Texas. ;)

So, the Mondo-con flipping has commenced on eBay even before the event itself, and lemme tell you, it's worse than I could have possibly imagined...

Some douche from my hometown has every vinyl release mondo will have with them already up for sale, ranging from $60-$200 each. He also has a number of mondocon posters up for equally outrageous prices. It's one thing to flip. It's another to try and scam people on shit they will be able to purchase in a few weeks anyway.

(Sorry if one of you is the aforementioned douche, but what you are doing is pretty douche-y.)

I'm sure it will only get worse once this thing actually starts...

Yeah I seen. It's fucking disgraceful. But not to worry I have a good feeling we will all have a fair crack at each of them when they go online.

This may explain some of the shipping and handling crazyness ; i dont understand why so many stops as iam living abroad ; it seems the records are doing some sightseeing :)
so maybe they will be ill treated :(
do you understand something ; 1 stop seems fair but 5 at least :)
no wonder why it takes so long ; i hope the records wont have suffered and i'll get a variant for all those anguishes :)

Just got it this morning and i got to say ; my bad,you guys Rocks ; it took times but they got here safely and i can see it has suffered a bit during transport plus my postman put it roughly in my box i should say ; so i was a bit worried after all i heard ; but the records were pristine and i finally got a variant !
great Job @Mondo and excellent released !

So just to keep up with all these releases and MondoCon Exclusives :-

Looper has already had an online drop.
2001 Lost Music is scheduled for November
Shaun of the Dead is scheduled for Oct

What about Iron Giant - will this eventually be available online? If so, when if anybody knows?

If they are all priced at $60 they can keep them. Does anyone else think that this is an unfair price, when DW do equally lovely packages for half that?

As much as I dislike Mondo, I will be the first to admit that the packaging for the lost score of 2001 is great. I can see how it will fall apart fairly easily if you handle it too much, but it is a really neat package.

The music is actually really good, but I can definitely understand why Kubrick passed on it in favor of what was actually used in the film. It sounds too much like a score for a 1950's sci-fi TV series.

They are all normal priced $25-30 unless you want Iron Giant version B which is housed in a heavy metal case.

@Ghostfires What's the issue with the packaging? I'm struggling to find much info online
By ghostfires

@rob - It isn't really a current issue...I just think lots of handling will cause the packaging to damage easier than others would.

It is a gatefold jacket with foil artwork inside and a heavy gloss over the whole jacket....it's extremely nice, BUT it is thick. That brings me to the actual issue...it is housed inside a clear, plastic jacket that contains the front/rear text (album title, spine info, album info on rear). Because the album jacket is really thick, sliding it in and out of the plastic jacket can be tough...it is an extremely tight fix. It looks great, don't get me wrong. I can just see the adhesive coming undone on the plastic exterior jacket over time, and/or the interior album jacket being cut or bent in places when trying to pull it out or push it back in.

What I did was remove the record, put the jacket back inside the plastic jacket, then wrapped the whole thing in a 180 gram poly bag with the record sliding into the poly bag as well. That way I don't have to handle the interior jacket near as much.

I put some pics in the MondoCon thread. The cover is a plain black tip-on jacket with a light reflective center gatefold. It comes housed in a plastic outer sleeve. The sleeve is what has the album name/info printed on it rather than the jacket.

I could see the sleeve coming apart at the edges over time. The sleeve on my copy is also a bit snug on the jacket- I've really got to yank on the jacket to get it out of the sleeve.

It does look cool, good design for 2001. I love the way the variant looks and will definitely try to get a variant copy in November. Mine is black which also looks good for this release.

The music chosen by Kubrick for the final film was perfect...that needs to be said. However...those who are Kubrick mad (like I am) will want this record, from the completist pov. It looks like Mondo have done a great job on this...I wonder what the price will be?
