^^^

I had high expectations for that Vessel record but it's turned out more like musique concrete. I like a lot of non-music and music concrete but this is simply... well, chopped sound. Sounds like they made compositions and then decided to chop them and throw the scramble in.

Maybe I missed something... I will give it another chance though, I always do.

Got Voyag3r - Doom Fortress in the mail today. Awesome release! The yellow vinyl sold out months ago on pre-order, but there are still black vinyl copies left here (http://bellyacherecords.com/store/recor ... -fortress/)

Doom Fortress is the debut full length album from Detroit’s Voyag3r (pronounced Voyager Three). Voyag3r are a synth based instrumental rock band that draws inspiration from sci-fi, horror, action soundtrack music from the 70′s & 80′s. Voyag3r have set out to create dynamic, epic, moody and atmospheric sounds intended to inspire. This experimental rock sound is like a movie-less score or the soundtrack to a far away mysterious journey. Voyag3r forge their sound with a multitude of analog synthesizers, acoustic drums and electric guitar.

Doom Fortress was recorded using vintage analog synths, electric guitar through vintage tube amplification and maple shell acoustic drums. All music was recorded to 2″ analog tape (MCI JH-24 2″ Analog 24-Track w/ALIII remote) through various vintage pre-amps and a 1977 Custom Harrison 3232 console for maximum authenticity and spirit in capturing this classic sound.

Wait....what?

"...bespoke anti-static shield bag - a metallised laminated material usually used by the electronics industry for protecting components from electrostatic interference."

So basically the bag your new motherboard might come in. I guess that's techincally "bespoke" since they would have had to order them for this purpose, but it seems like much ado about nothing.

Doesn't that basically summarize Radiohead & Yorke altogether??

any idea where to snag a copy of this for the USA? I have a feeling shipping from Australia is probably out of my range.

Oh bloody hell, is label size now A Thing? It's only a matter of time before the personalised snugness of the centre hole becomes artisan wank fodder.

And ooh the bag has a "resealable grip closure". Whoopiesoddingdoo. So does the bag that I put my sandwiches in.

Man, that center hole has a kung fu grip! I think label size can have merits like what Cineploit did with the omaggio a frizzi release. That one had a jumbo "picture disc" style label that looks awesome. Not sure small label is a desirable thing though.

http://beatdelete.com/releases/daedelus ... ht-brigade

Like his mythological namesake, Daedelus – otherwise known as Alfred Darlington – is an inventor, a creator of sonic labyrinths combining sounds from an eclectic palette into an innovative genre all his own. With The Light Brigade, Daedelus returns to Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder, a fitting home for the Los Angeles electronic pioneer. A successor to his 2009 Righteous Fists of Harmony (an EP inspired by the Boxer Rebellion), The Light Brigade recalls the Crimean war of 1853-56.

The music was written and recorded before the recent troubles broke out in that region, a turn of events which lends an air of requiem to the album.

Opening with Until Artillery, an elegiac voice invokes the conflict as glorified in Lord Alfred Tennyson’s infamous poem, backed by electronic swells that build into a poignant climax, contrasting the simple melodies that are the distinction of the album. Lead single Onward is a haunting lament; layered, melancholy vocals provided by previous collaborator Young Dad wind their way through treated pianos and deep textures creating a mournful ballad of noise. In Shot and Shell, a cavalcade of fingerpicked guitars are embedded in warm synths, and closing track Country of Conquest is a heartbreaking string composition that recalls Shostakovich.

The Light Brigade is a musical interplay of light and dark, soft and heavy, beautiful and frightening. The ghosts of war reverberate into the present in this deeply moving meditation on mortality.

Not sure if any of you have come across the mysterious reissue of Delia Derbyshire's Dreams album, originally issued in 1964. I don't know what label it is that reissued, as there are no indications on the album.

I've been listening most of the morning, and it just sounds so damn good on vinyl. It is tape recordings of people recounting dreams/nightmares. It has a musique concrete feel to it, but very ambient and can cause you to drift away from reality. It isn't choppy or extremely experimental like a lot of concrete is.

Contact is the new duo of A.E. Paterra (aka Majeure) of famed sci-fi synth-rock group Zombi, and acclaimed British film composer, Paul Lawler. Exploring a similar orbit as Majeure and Zombi, multi-instrumentalist Lawler infuses heavy doses of melody and drama to give First Contact a sound and feel that blends late 70s Pink Floyd sprawl, the nostalgic wonder of early 80s science documentaries, and John Carpenter’s 80s sci-fi action films. Equal parts fascinating and euphoric, Contact is two masters of their respective crafts finding common ground in zero gravity.

@Nathan Yeah it came out of nowhere but I like what I've heard so far. Also, if you preordered the new Mono recently, email Anna at TRL & ask to combine shipping. She said she would refund me the difference after placing this new order.
Heads up! Realy weird (but a lot seem to like it) and special record at newonvinyl.com ! Note that this isn’t like the single lp that already is on the market, its a double lp this time.. What do you guys think?

Limited Reissue of “Mr. Bungle” By Mr. Bungle on PURPLE Transparent colored vinyl. Double LP. Only 2000 on Colored vinyl. Including Insert.
This is the last of the Music On Vinyl reissues of the Mr Bungle catalog. California sounds quite good. They just reissued the Faith No More catalog and they did a fine job with that as well. There are supposedly "band approved" Mr Bungle reissues coming next year according to a post on Patton's Facebook page so make of that what you will.
