So I am a total TD noob, however, just picked up a copy of Underwater Sunlight and I'm loving it. Can anyone tell me where to go from here?

I don't know a lot of Tangerine Dream's records, I'm a newbie myself, but I would definitely recommend the "Sorcerer" soundtrack.

Really any score TD did is worth checking out. Are some better then others? Yes. That doesn't mean that any are bad though. :)

@philball, I have some TD dups I plan of getting rid of; soundtrack to Firestarter, Cyclone, and Rubycon. If you are in the US and are interested email me at tim28212@gmail.com and we can discuss. You could also check them out on Spotify.

The first time I ever came across Tangerine Dream was the soundtrack for a film called Miracle Mile. It turned up as a video shop oddity when I was around 12. Great film and that soundtrack really stuck in my head. Everything they've done sounds so ahead of it's time

Thanks guys, bought a few of these from discogs for few ££s each. Near dark wasn't cheap though so passed on that for now.

Anybody remember this oddity of a film, The Keep? Tangerine Dream soundtrack, I like this film, as bonkers as it was and the soundtrack I think is great. Nazi horror, what's not to like?

What @texasvinyl said but all good recommendations, I would add Alpha Centauri and Zeit(2lp) which are quite dark and intense, but amazing. Also Ricochet, Stratosfear and Phaedra which are all beautiful and possibly my favourites and maybe more accessible at first. Lucky you man getting to discover all this great music.
Oh yeah and The Keep is one TD we'd all like to see on vinyl!

The Keep is available on CD and I agree with @Dagar, it needs a vinyl release

Aw The Keep is a classic. Makes sense for about an hour until Scott Glen turns up and then everything goes a bit mental. It was originally supposed to be three hours long and it looks like they tried to edit down the last two hours into thirty minutes. Steer clear on the pan and scan copy on Netflix, the sound mix is nearly inaudible.

Phill, check out the soundtrack to Thief. It's killer. Another film they worked on with Michael Mann.

I own just about every single TD album available on vinyl, and Zeit is definitely my favorite.

All the soundtracks are worth checking out though, there really isn't a bad one.

Ummmmh mostly, I would avoid Risky Business! If the close up of Tom Cruise's face isn't enough to put you of the tracks should be ;) although all TD tracks are all superb - this was really annoying having to skip tracks which was a shame as I had to get rid of it in the end due to this reason. A bit like the original Phenomena Soundrack with Iron Madien et al.
