entire film was shot in Analog, not as rough as a 16mm camera, but maybe?, was thinking it was just an aging effect West used while editing the film. most people are in love with HD now days, but House of the Devil with the analog, and the early/mid 80'ish OST adds so much to this movie. i have been to 3 screenings of Ti West's films "The Sacrament" & "The Innkeepers", and of course "House of the Devil" and was blown away by each one! and you guessed it House of the Devil is by far the best of his work, but i seriously compare it with "The Sacrament" w/ Executive Producer Eli Roth, possibly this generations best horror director/producer/writer/etc...

sorry for the rant but this soundtrack is going to be fucking amazing on wax!!! i bought it from iTunes, but on wax it will have a totally different feel. that analog wax feel is going to melt in your ears not in your hands!!!

any sign of a release date to expect?

I'm a huge Ti West fan but I have a soft spot for Innkeepers. I love ghost stories and I thought that one was absolutely amazing.

I hope there's a non picture disc option too, the pd looks fantastic, but I'm not sure about the sound, which is basically why I buy records.
Anyway, can't wait!

Can't wait for this - only recently saw the film, finally. Loved it!

Gotta say - the Mike Armstrong theme HAS to be referencing the film version of The Cars - Moving in Stereo, as heard during THAT scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High - it's even in the same key! :

Y'think?? ;)

Yeah, the opening theme IS a cover of that Cars song. Great song, great cover, too. It's actually my favorite track on the soundtrack, heh.

So id been meaning to actually watch this film for years now, especially now if the score was so good that spencer wanted this to be DW001...holy shit this is awesome, I'm so upset I waited this long, I'm about half an hour in and I love it.

There will be no pre orders on this we have the stock in hand .
In fact pre orders should be no more, we currently have 6 titles all on varying stages of production ... We want you to get your record the week you order it not a month later when you haven't even seen what you're getting ..

Excellent news Spencer, abit fed up with getting excited for stuff , ordering it and then by the time it arrives all the excitment has long dissapeared months ago.

was gonna order class of nuke em last month but then when i saw that it wasnt out till end of nov i thought enoughs enough (especially in that case dealing with a first time label)

always been a fan of what you do and cant see that ever changing

Fair point, even if I never felt scammed by DW (the information about color, weight, extras,.. that you give is fantastic + sound quality and prize is unbeatable).
But for me, preorder is good tough. You can forget about it until the package arrives, you don't have the anxiety of "if it goes on sale tomorrow and I'm offline I'm fucked".

Pre order doesn't exactly solve that problem. Perfect example would be Friday The 13th

I'm sorry uxipi but either I've miss understood you or you've miss under stood me/spencer there is no difference between preorder and what spencer has mentioned (on hand onsale) other than the positive that you get the record much quicker , if it sells out straight away that won't change either way it's just that you have to wait longer for it to turn up with a preorder possibly months which surely (don't call me Shirley) you'd prefer it to turn up sooner rather than later

@Spencer -

I like the promotional video you put together for House of the Devil. Clever idea to use the scenes where our young victim/heroine is listening to her Walkman!

Well, if it sells out 2 months before the release date, the label could think about pressing more copies.

I like preorders, and I like DW. I try to preorder records that I like/want (for example the new Hookworms album), it's just my opinion! One way or another, I'll keep buying records.

HOTD is one of those movies that I had zero idea about and just picked it up because of the title.

Instantly fell in love with the film and also for the score, just actually revisiting it for the first time in a long time and hand on heart can say I'm looking forward to this about a thousand times more than BTBR.

Still don't get all the fuss over that one but c'est la vie.

This is going to be one awesome month from DW!

I also plan on revisiting the movie, it's been a long time that I've seen it, I suggested the movie to a few friends in the past and they all liked it better than they thought they would.

Have you seen the btbr movie tony ? What really hooked me in the soundtrack is the part where the girl is in her room and has a picture of her mother and a tv screen showing news and cartoons, and there's this really mellow music that is quite sad and beautiful.

I used to go to sleep listening to the unofficial mp3s of the soundtrack, the tracks were named "night mode" and "mother". I think it's beautiful sad contemplative music.

Maybe you'll get into it sometime if you listen to it while walking at night, or in the complete dark etc.

@nathan - I still haven't watched the movie & honestly I'm not in a huge rush to do so. I've seen it on Netflix but it really doesn't appeal to me.

Maybe I should just give it a look, I'm up for anything because I want to love this soundtrack as much as a bunch of you guys do. I know we all differ on a ton of stuff but across the board this one has been a total highlight & I think I'm missing something.

I do have to admit that on the 3rd listen through I enjoyed it more than the pervious plays so maybe it'll grow on me.

Can't recommend giving HOTD a fresh listen & a fresh watch, probably one of the most visually arresting films I've seen in the past decade.

Saw this on retweeted by @filmsonwax on Twitter. Looks like it's getting the textured sleeve like the recent releases instead of the cropped, classic blue design that we've seen like of DW01-06. Looking good.
