Never imagined that anyone would track down the tapes and release this…. glorious. Very noisy pressing on clear purple smoke, gonna have to try and mitigate with some deep cleaning, but the actual mastering sounds really good. Terrible terrible sleeve art but what you gonna do? Just thrilled to have it.

Let us know how it turns out after a deep clean. I added that, SNDN and In the Mouth of Madness to my Video Club Subscription, so they aren't coming until they catch up with the Blu-ray releases.

Do you think it needs a cleaning, or possible that their in house pressing equipment isn't up to snuff? Just curious.

I haven’t seen anyone here complaining about their recent releases, so hoping it’s just in need of usual deep clean that new pressings often require

I will say that a majority of the releases I get from TV and this includes all of the stuff they had pressed at standard pressing plants over the years are often full of surface noise I can't get rid of with cleaning. I kind of put them a step below Waxwork and on par with Mondo/Mutant for noise on their pressings

I'm hoping with them doing it in house they will be a little more selective on what they allow to go through when it comes to surface noise but my expectations are pretty low. I haven't had a chance to listen to any of the ones they have produced in house yet

Overall the vinyl I've picked up from them has been been pretty good with the exception of CHUD 2 and The Brain. The last couple of years I've mostly picked up cassettes from them because of the rapid release of titles they put out and the cost of new vinyl. If I can live with it on cassette I'll just go with that.

yeah I get that. My record purchasing has been much less over the last few years due to the rising costs. I'm subbed to TV record club and I occasionally will pick up some other stuff but the days of ordering a new record every few days is long gone. Most of Mutant's stuff these days is $50 w/ shipping just for a single LP, same for Waxwork. TV is the only label that is keeping prices low since they started pressing their own the prices have dropped. It's funny bc Waxwork started pressing their own and they raised their prices lol

MaXXXine

I finally folded and picked up a copy of this, I was weary of the glitter pressing. I've seen Spencer say they changed the way they do glitter variants and they are no longer noisy (yes I know this isn't a Mutant release but he was speaking on the topic). It's a lie this thing sounds awful, constant background hiss. At least I didn't pay full retail. I do really like Tyler's score in the film and I appreciate them doing score on 1lp and soundtrack on the other as I won't spin that very often

Prince of the City

1981 Varese Sarabande
Good one! I reached out to Paul Chihara once about anothet of his scores, underrated composer
One of the best 70s/80s over the edge cop/mob films as well that seems to get overlooked for some reason maybe because no future big stars came out of it. I'm going to stream it here in a few days and really curious to see how it looks compared to my old 90s reissue double Warner Bros VHS tape:) Agree as well Chihara score is great and this VS pressing is top notch their vinyl and cassette were second to none at this time.
