I haven't read it, but I have the paperback version -- a birthday gift from my sister. Glad to hear that you're enjoying it. I'll have to move it up in my queue.

Nice! I'm curious about the paperbacks, the quality of the pictures, & i guess for lack of a better phrase supplement materials on that quality of paper....there's web pages, newspaper articles, photographs, all in stunning detail. They really went all out on the presentation.
The paperback has the various web pages, articles, etc. Although the pages are of decent size, I'd like it to be a little bigger. Also, the page margins close to the spine are small. Given that the book has a lot of pages, you need to adjust the page as you read so you can see the text (or start to break the spine).
That was my concern, yeah. My brother had expressed interest and he's generally an e-reader and I'm trying to sway him towards the hardback explicitly for the presentation aspect

I finished it. For me, it was good but not great. I'm not sure if I was expecting more because he seems to be that talk lately but for me it was just OK. It could be brutal at times and some reviews say it reads like an 80's horror novel. It moves pretty fast. I have a couple of his other books, Boys In the Valley and A Child Alone With Strangers (Lividian Press) so we'll see how I like those.

I've heard, read many glowing reviews of his short story collections, that's where I intend to start but I thought both Gothic and Sarafina looked great as well

I also have Sarafina. I forgot that one. On goodreads Gothic gets the lowest rating (3.8) of the books I've got so that may say something. I don't have any of his short story collections but, like you, heard rave reviews.

Diving into the last Matthew Corbett book. It's bittersweet. I've really enjoyed this series. Some books are better than others but all worth reading. I kinda hate that it's ending but I've read McCammon does a good job with wrapping everything up. Can't wait to see what he's working on next.
This is my signed trade edition from Lividian. The limited edition is still in the works.

It's the 50th anniversary of Salems Lot this month so I decided to take if off the shelf this weekend for a 3rd(or is it 4th?) reading. It was my first King book and still one of my favorites. About half way through and plan on watching the mini series (Tobe Hooper) after I finish.

Great stuff Tim - was my first too. I was sick in bed for a week with a serious fever when I was around 13 and ordered a book club compendium of Carrie/Night Shift/Salem/Shining as my free intro selection, started with Salem. Was a wild trippy intro to King that has never left me.

Is that the actual cover? Why is there an apostrophe before "Salem's"? Why are two of the titles in bold while the other two aren't? Why have both "Complete" and "Unabridged"?

What is this madness?!

Haha all very good points… to which I have no answer. Except that ‘Salem’s Lot is indeed written that way on all book editions AFAIK (a contraction of ‘Jerusalem’s Lot’ of course) but the apostrophe was dropped for the TV mini series.

As for the other points….. welcome to the wild west of 80s book clubs!
