One of my favorite King books and one of my favorite King adaptions. I really need to give the book another read.

First time watch for me...
I remember taping this from a BBC airing 30 years ago but never got around watching it :-)

Damn! Really horrific.

It has been at least a decade since I have last seen this one. Tonight I watched the Special Edition. 153 minutes. Still brilliant.

I showed this to a room full during my ‘midnight cult screenings’ days, to highly mixed reaction. I genuinely love it, but in retrospect it’s a bit ‘robot rapey’ for your average filmgoer 😳

Another one I haven't seen in maybe 15 years. I actually forgot it was from 2000. Time flies. I read the novel when I was sixteen. In 1996.

I have never seen Aliens 3 and 4. Finally decided to give 3 a go and watched the Assembly Cut. Really like it.

completely agree. I never hated Alien 3 it just wasn't something I loved. The Assembly Cut made me appreciate it much more though. I need to read the original script they made into comic.

Funny I was just thinking to myself earlier today that I'm about due for a rewatch of Starship Troopers. Gonna check out the 4K this week.

What did you think @cult? I loved it, probably due for a rewatch soon.

Rich & Famous dir by Taylor Wong

This was a fantastic HK action/gangster film. The acting was excellent, the action was quite good (it's no John Woo but it's not trying to be either). The descisions made by one of the main characters was surprising and evil. A really great blind buy to be honest. I'm glad I picked up the set from Eureka, I will be checking out the sequel Tragic Hero in the near future.

Beau Is Afraid dir by Ari Aster

This is a film. It is 3 hours long. It will most likely give you anxiety. It is not as fun and "trippy" as the trailers made it look like it would be. I actually quite liked it but it felt like it was 6 hours long, in fact at the two hour mark I had to do a time check and assumed it was almost over, nope an hour left. Joaquin is fantastic in it. I think the first act is incredibly strong with him at his apartment, it's weird, chaotic and gave me some Jodorowsky vibes when he was in the street. The second and third act were not as strong imo but still had moments that I enjoyed. It's definitely a film that I won't revisit often but think it's worth everyone's time to check out.

Bad Things

The only compliment I can give this is that I like the poster. The film was boring, grating and just poorly done. I've never seen a film so at conflict with itself every few minutes, it's frustrating. There are 4 characters, at one moment character A will say they want to leave but B, C & D say no, then 2 minutes later character B will say they want to leave but A will say they have to stay they can't leave, then 2 minutes later character A will be screaming that she wants to leave yet B & C will say they can't leave they don't want to. Then 5 minutes later C will be in hysterics that they want to leave but A & B will say they don't want it. It's so fucking stupid. Don't bother watching this it's one of the worst things I've watched this year.

It was even better than I expected it would be. Definitely kept me engaged the entire time. Everything about Kurt Russell is super endearing so I felt bad for his character at the end, but all in all very solid film. I knew about the scene where they are captured, but wasn't prepared for how brutal that was.

On the topic of Beau is Afriad. I loved that one as well. The entire theater sequence I was spellbound. I love weird movies like Beau it felt similar to I'm Thinking Of Ending Things which I also loved.

That's a good comparison. Definitely had a Kaufman feeling stylistically and structurally. Even throw Synecdoche, New York in there as something similar.

Reservation Dogs has returned for it's 3rd and final season, I'm 3 episodes in and loving it. It continues to be one of my favorites TV shows of the last few years.

I still need to watch Synecdoche NY. That's the only Kaufmann movie I haven't watched. Will probably try and check it out this weekend now that its on my mind again.

That is my favorite film of his that he directed. As a writer that would probably be Being John Malkovich or Adaptation
