I thought I read somewhere that this release is actually the synth demos, and not actually the music that is in the movie. I can’t find that info now so I’m not too sure if that’s true. If anyone has any info to share I would appreciate it. I feel it’s a great Bernstein score that gets overlooked.

I thought there was some sort of orchestral flair, where this sounds strait synth which I’m really quite liking. I don’t know my brain is probably remembering it wrong.CrossedPete wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 4:32 pm Charles Bernstein- Deadly Friend image.jpgHey Pete - yeah not sure where you saw that but it's definitely the actual film recordings on the Varese soundtrack release.

And it turns out I wasn't - it's also been a while since I watched the movie. So I booted it up and sure enough, the re is lots of electronic scoring in the film but also some orchestral which is absent from the soundtrack release! Especially noticeable in the main title on the film, which is completely absent from the album. Wt heck?! I found a thread on FSM that mentions this, the aformentioned 'synth recreations' comments which I think you are referring to...ScoJo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 6:51 pmit’s been some time since it watched the film but I do fondly remember renting it on vhs a bunch of times. I thought I read something on Discogs but I can’t remember if it was in the notes or is someone just made a comment about the release. When I checked again the note must of been deleted. I believe a CD was released with the complete score. Not sure though I didn’t go too heavy In my research.CrossedPete wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 7:03 pmJesus, what are you doing to me Pete? ScoJo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 7:58 pmNice :). I could be wrong but I think the OG from Italy is completely different than all the rest. I don’t own a copy to be sure though, although I think I already now I should be buying one.CrossedPete wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 7:51 pmDon't Look Now is a great one! 100% yes.ScoJo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 7:27 pmHa so I’m not crazy good to know. Taking in a listen of this one. Sounds big and loud with nice deep percussion. I had ordered black vinyl but received the transparent red. Also lucked out as there was a gouge across three tracks on side A, but it is cosmetic only. Thrilled to have this album on vinyl even if I will still look longingly for copies of the original ‘74 LP on Fonit Italy. The liner notes on the printed insert are of the highest caliber for a soundtrack release and really set the standard for what other reissue labels should be looking to achieve.

Hope you had a great vacation
