Hello everyone. I wish you all a terrific new week. I have been away for a couple of days. Laying in the sun.
Now back to work, spinning records and hopefully watching some movies.

I need to pick that one up still. Probably will with my next 2HD order to save some extra money with their coupon.

I spun a ton of records yesterday but didn't snap any pics other than these at the end.

Forever grateful for the posts on cheap copies a few years back. Haunted Summer is so good. It get's spun quite a bit more than I ever expected.

you're forever welcome :)

FYI if there is anyone here who doesnt have this score it still sells with U-Boats really cheap on ebay. I think there is a set up now with a starting bid of $9.

+1 on Haunted Summer. Rumors abound that Scoj has a rip.

This one is up there in price these days. I honestly wasn't expecting to see prices that high. I have never seen the film but always intersted in Chris Young scores.

I am really enjoying the book Blood on Black Wax. Made me want to listen to The Swarm at the moment.
The propulsive main theme seems like it's almost an influence on James Horner ("Race Against Time" from Brainstorm pilfers the theme pretty closely). Plus, it has a militaristic verve that's in line with other Goldsmith scores of the era (Capricorn One, Damnation Alley). But for horror aficionados, one of the best parts of listening to how Goldsmith one-ups famed Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumblebee" to wrench an insect-like buzzing from a combination of woodwinds, strings, and, especially, brass. Whereas Korsakov's whirling, wavering strings suggest a fancy flight, Goldsmith goes for a punch in the gut. This quivering, almost staccato effect turned up in his score for Alien the following year ("Parker's Death"), and is best heard in The Swarm on sustained tracks such as "The Bees Arrive". Hilariously, it also features one of a three-note motif that literally spells B-E-E.
