@Bez - nice pick-ups, you have been swooping up some real beauties lately, especially that Down of the Dead LP. So, interesting to hear that GSF/Poo was a bootleg label from the late 70's. How is the pressing quality on those?

I had my eye on those Poo releases for a while. A couple of years ago there was only one copy of The Hills Run Red on Discogs and when I finally wanted to buy it, it was sold. Now there are a lot of copies for sale I believe.
They are very strange releases. Probably made in the US but with Japanese on the back cover. GSF appears to be sort of the same but some years later.
And the Hills Run Red also have a bootleg version from West Records out South-Africa?

Pressing quality of the Poo releases is okay. I am not a fussy listener and I don't remember hearing anything strange or lacking yesterday.
Hornet's Nest has the score on side A and side B contain tracks from other Morricone scores. For around 20$ I would recommend these releases to fill any Morricone hole.

Both my daughter's have been enamored with the work of his, that they have seen.
It's interesting how you describe your sister was almost hypnotised by it, when my youngest daughter (2) was watching Totoro, at the first encounter with the giant sleeping Totoro she was in a trance but also cautiosly giggling, and then was bouncing out her seat when he yawns? and the younger sister almost gets blown off his belly. The same with my older daughter (4) who suddenly started flying around the living room when Kiki first takes off on her journey.
My older daughter is particularly obsessed with Kiki, and my Ghibli LPs. She hasn't seen mononoke or Laputa, and just a little bit of nausicaa, but she is fascinated with the artwork that adorns the LP sleeves. So much so she made her own mini book of illustrations of them (with obi!). Certain tracks from the album's also get constant requests too ;).

If you are a fan of Miyazaki and haven't seen the Japanese only TV series future boy Conan I really recommend you try checking it out it. very much proto Laputa/Nausicaa, brilliantly animated, and it's a full length TV series. it's never been released in English due to rights issues but it may well be my favourite thing produced by Miyazaki.

That's amazing. His work will really stand the test of time. I think a lot of it is substantially more important than a large portion of Disney's body of work. And it's more consistent.

I was unaware of that TV series, I will be tracking that down. I've been wanting to revisit Laputa recently as well. I wish I could find the damn soundtrack for less than $75.

She just did not enjoy the story, unfortunately. It's just not for everybody, and could be a bit much for the young ones as it's a quite gory and scary in parts.

Yeah it's his only PG-13 film. I was really surprised by it's violence when I saw the first time. I love the film but definitely agree it's not his whimsical magic that most of his other films have. Nausicaa can be tough for young ones too as it's aimed for a little older demographic.

@inks @deaf agreed, as with much anime, not for little kids. I will say I didn't push this on my kids they are fascinated by it. I kept on having to explain what was going on in the illustrations "well she was raised by giant wolves, and she thinks she is a wolf, but she isn't" "they're big because they are from a magical forest" "that's the magical forest god and that woman wants to kill him, that's why princess mononoke is angry" I also like Miyazaki's Heroines. For example, my 4 year old daughter explained to me how princess mononoke doesn't smile, and this was a thing for her, that and riding around on a giant wolf.

No noise I can remember except during the run-in groove on B. Great dynamics. Without a clean no real pops and clicks on my copy.
