Didn't know it was being so highly praised in the press – I'm completely out of touch! My good old 140g black turned up today and sounds exquisite so all good.

It's everywhere. Even Pitchfork have it a rave. So hot right now. If I didn't love it, I'd hate it.

Some great spins going on here!

@334578: How‘s that Japanese Trane pressing?

It has been mentioned here before, these recent Blue Note Tone Poet releases are excellent! This arrived today along with two more, so I have a night of great Jazz ahead.

@Mateo: These are the other two. I have now listened to all 3. Will pour myself another drink and listen to them again. Life is good.

I also picked up the Chambers and Brooks during the BN sale. Both top notch.

The JP Coltrane is pretty good, nothing Earth shattering.

Now on to MD and the giants.

That MJ japanese press looks nice!

Big mail day today! Mostly jazz. First up The Night of the
Cookers Vol 1 deep groove mono. And damn if they ever cook! Two side-long live jams, and they are having a great time.

Thanks I am happy with this, plays super nice. And kind of two moods, the first is a nice cooker and side B they just set off for outer space with the horns

Next up a freebie sent by a seller. Not a bad record, french swing jazz 1959

I don't have a clue haha a couple tracks cook a little bit, others feel more old fashioned. No idea who pocho is either

This is one of the records I ordered from the guy. crispy preview copy for cheap.

The liner note is funny. It says "Houston Person can play. Not only can he play but he can play well. Beyond that he can play DAMN WELL. Person is young and lives in Boston. He is one of the few unreconstructed non-jiving-tenors to have arrived in recent years." It goes on to describe Cedar Walton as "I'm afraid, a musicians musician...he doesn't play the crap-funk of a Les McCann or Ramsay Lewis and therefore will never make the hit parade."

Thant's hilarious. I wonder if one of the muscisians or producers penned that or if it was written by someone in-house at the label.

The other one from this seller. I was looking at an OG Prestige copy of the Jon Eardley Seven. It was pretty expensive even at a nice price. This '65 Status Koo Koo record is the same thing and has 'Van Gelder' in the runout. Much much nicer price, this NM copy was $15. Sounds excellent. Killer record.

One of my favorite Shorter joints. I presume that's the Classics edish?

It is a music matters. I have been selling like a fiend and snagging every "reasonably" priced SRX, I like these a lot and it seems like there isn't much time to track down stragglers before they are out of reach.

Saved the best for last. I had a stupid Waxtime pressing, this is so much better.

Those are awesome, would love the SRX or 2x 45 (I personally don’t mind flipping sides if I get outstanding sound as a reward) of Speak No Evil on Music Matters, one of my favorite Jazz albums (probably albums in general). The BN Classic is a cost effective alternative but the high quality packaging and arguably still better sound quality of the MM is very tempting.
