I gotta say I feel Lance Henriksen is severely under rated as an actor. Maybe not on this forum but in general. For a while I just knew him as Bishop from Aliens. But his rolls in Near Dark and Hard Target the man is a treasure.

You know what Nathan normally when I find a movie I love that’s one of the first things I do. But for some reason after watching The Story of Ricky after all these years it’s never crossed my mind to do a little research and see what other gems could possibly be out there by the director, so I’ll take your advice and check it out. I will second Nathan's suggestion on The Seventh Curse. I watched that last year or the year before for the first time and was blown away by it. It's really fun.

Don't forget Pumpkinhead. He's incredible in that. I always felt like James Woods role in Vampires should have went to Lance.

yeah he is great in Pumpkinhead, when ever he’s in a leading roll he knocks it out of the park. He’s even great in smaller rolls. He’s a great actor. I never thought about him in Vampires before but yeah it totally could of worked.

He had just married a makeup artist that we worked with on a film. So she invited a bunch of us over while he was away filming (what is the moving he plays the crazy religious monk). My memory escapes me. He had a really cool looking house on top of a mountain in the san Fernando Valley. Kind of looked like a small dark cathedral. Strongest part of the memory is urinating in his bathroom while looking at family pics on the wall. Thinking how odd life is sometimes

Was this in 89-91? The one film where he plays a crazy religious person that comes to mind is The Pit and the Pendulum which came out in 91.

If lance was in vampires I’d like that movie more. I’m OK with it, but I feel like woods is doing like a caricature of a carpenter character sometimes..like I can see it’s supposed to be Russell in scenes (not as much as you can see in ghosts of Mars but it’s there) and I feel like Hendrickson could have rocked that role and brought something different to it.

Until a good friend casually mentioned it last year assuming I was on page, Id not seen it either. But that was the 'old' me. I call that era BB- Before Bostwick. Before Baxley. Whichever. Im all about it these days.

inksb thanks for bringing some clarity to my memory. Pit and the Pendulum is the film I was thinking of (Lance in top maniacal form) but because of the date...can't be. You sent me on a quick search and it was around 1995 he got married to the women. So it could not have been pit. All I remember is he was in Rome filming something as I was creeping thru his pad. I also remember Lance came into the shop for the film Quick and the Dead. I believe we cast his hand for some effect. He was smaller in person than you would think but impressively shredded and lean. Now thinking about it I sculpted a fake forehead appliance for a bullet hit effect on that film. I don't remember for what actor and to this day have not seen the movie.

I freaking love Action Jackson. It’s such a fun action movie. Carl Weathers is the man. Now I really have to watch this Movie.


I had a friend in high school who was obsessed with Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. Are you saying you’ve never watched The Quick and the Dead? I’m a sucker for anything Sam Raimi. Did you get to work with him at all? Seems like he would be a good dude to hang and shoot the shit with. Also just curious working in the industry does watching movies become old hat? I know for me in my industry working in a factory I’m just use to the process but when a visitor would come in and you can see they are in awe and they have all these questions and you can see they’re genuinely interested you can almost forget how unique your job is.

I just wanted to add why I chose those 3 and not others, I feel the plots to those movies are fairly similar. I could of added The Quest as well but I haven’t watched it in a while so I can’t really remember who the big bad is. I also really like Fender Tremolo as a heel. Funny story this...

Saturday I wanted to watch another JCVD flick and Cyborg was up next. My girlfriend was sitting next to me reading the newspaper. Within the first two minutes she was asking why I wanted to watch this... She repeated that several times so I decided to stop. (She hates Scifi stuff - and the first two minutes of Cyborg are... ahum... not for everyone). So I wanted to play Lionheart next but with a running time of 110 minutes it would take too long because of diner.
I ended up watching:

JCVD did not one split in that movie! However I really enjoyed it. A lot more than I anticipated. My girlfriend was actually amused during parts of it.
