Heard of Fred Bongusto passing. Listening to my favorite he did. Conviene Far Bene L'Amore. I used to think it more of a one tracker (the last track is like ten minutes long and molten lava, one of the best orchestrated slow burn funk jams I've ever heard) and most other tracks are the one main theme done in a variety of styles. Several are really great though with spacey synth accents and subtlety in the arrangements. Sophisticated disco jazz? I don't know what to call it.

This is pretty damn good.
listened to it on Spotify then placed my order.
I ordered all 3 volumes, very bummed that they could have easily fit all 3 volumes on 2 records, lots of "empty space" on each side of Vol. 1, great music though.

ImageFrizzi/Lehman - I Notturni Di Yuggoth [Cadabra Records CADABRA-49]

Powerful Lovecraft enchantment here, especially with Frizzi’s acoustic “Guitar Notturnos” working as an audial salve for my weary ears. Excellent guitar performance by Riccardo Rocchi, as always. Cadabra seems to do no wrong in my eyes — exquisite presentation and detailed liner notes abound.

It’s really excellent with that catchy repeating theme, which possibly sounds like a theremin. I also got lucky and snagged this copy off yahoo japan recently. Felt great to tear the forty year-old shrink wrap off the lovely Varèse textured picture sleeve.

ImageHideki Taniuchi & Yoshihisa Hirano - Deathnote original score [Tiger Lab TLV008]

This is really impressing me. You could have told me this was a Clint Mansell collab with a band and I would not have blinked. I believe I have watched some of Deathnote, but I was well south of sober at the time and it’s a very fuzzy memory... except for that face.

ps - the subber vinyl is very lovely and sounds even better.

I was really worried while listening to side A that the release may not be fore me, side B didn't really grab me outside of 2 tracks but I dig C & D much more than the first two sides. Probably my least favorite TLV release but that's not much of a slight as I love all of the other ones quite a bit.
