Here is an interesting release from local label Wyrd War. They had previously released Bakshi's Wizards and the Howarth live album. They are good people, so please support them if you are so inclined:

FIRST TIME ON VINYL! Wyrd War presents Charles Bernstein’s haunting score for Sidney Furie’s 1982 supernatural thriller THE ENTITY. Based on the true story of a woman believed to be the victim of a hostile spectral invasion, THE ENTITY is a provocative descent into trauma and the demoralization that often emerges in the wake of sexual assault. Barbara Hershey’s brilliant performance as a single mother seeking assistance from both a skeptical psychiatrist and a bumbling team of paranormal researchers is amplified by Bernstein’s iconic musical cues (also heard in Quentin Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS). At turns hypnotic and ethereal, aggressive and genuinely unsettling, this complete collected orchestral/synth soundtrack includes muscular diegetic rock anthem The Power, switched-on Mozart Source and three bonus outtakes that provide a glimpse into Bernstein’s compositional process. Recorded at Village Recorders studios in West Los Angeles and Bernstein’s Santa Monica studio in 1981, sourced from Bernstein’s archives and mastered for vinyl by Timothy Stollenwerk. This “ghostly” colored vinyl presentation highlights the original Japanese one sheet artwork with belly-wrap obi strip, spot varnish embellishments and massive liner notes insert by Dennis Dread. Limited to 666 copies worldwide. Each record is stamp-numbered and shipped in a protective poly sleeve. RELEASE DATE: August 22, 2019 (WYRD WAR - 12).

Thank you @mateo and @static, Lord's work bringing this to our attention. Euro folks - be aware that the current discount (for first 50x web sales) gets you this 2x LP for £13.90, with around £8.50 shipping. The checkout stated that this was shipping cost for 'one CD', so they may well get back to me to bump up the shipping cost, we'll see...

Now I have to go and pre-order that Entity LP with similar swiftness!!

@ScoJo

That your well established opinion on rerecordings (which i share completely) can be overcome by this porject compells me to check it out. from what everyone is saying, this really is a remarkable recording, and since, as others have pointed out, true to film versions of this score are not readily available, looks like i'm placing an order.

oh and to top it all off, they put out the pumpkinhead score on cd (reissued from the Varese Box Set a few years ago), which is another one of those "would love to get on wax" gems no one else cares about. easy order, the both of them.
