That seems like a very reasonable price, $45 for the bundle. I've never heard the score so I'm headed to youtube to see what it's like. I saw the movie like 15 years ago and never really cared for it.

Okay. So I ended up buying the book plus both variants bundle. Shipping total of $60. Makes more sense...
A bit. That means I have a spare copy to sell.

It's basically disco but my understanding is that this new release has some cues. It also omits some of the tracks from the original release which can be found on that bootleg from a couple years back. If the LP was more than $25 I don't think I would've gotten one.

It says the new record is cut at 45 rpm, i'm not sure how its even possible to have the same tracks as the original.

I also dispute their claim that the original Prom Night soundtrack on RCA japan is a bootleg / unauthorized.

1) They released an LP and a 7" .
2) Who the fuck was making bootleg LPs of B-movie canadian horror movies in 1980? let a lone an LP and 7".
3) Perhaps Paul Z never received any royalties from it and therefore disputes its validity.

Agreed, I had the same thoughts.

Well - Stylotone’s Marnie reissue has been pushed back by almost a month.

Someone finally pointed out to them that the cover image was actually from The Birds, so they’re changing it.

from their statement:
“In February we announced ‘Marnie – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ as our next Bernard Herrmann release… However, due to the eagle-eyed readers over at Super Deluxe Edition we found out that the cover image we had been supplied was in fact from ‘The Birds’… We swiftly moved into action to correct this error and up until a few days ago we believed we were on course to stick to the original release date. Unfortunately, it now appears that this isn’t going to be possible. The new release date is the 24th of May 2019.

Please accept our apologies as we are really sorry for this, but we like to think we do a pretty good job over at ‘Stylotone Towers’ and a front cover image from the wrong film was obviously never going to be acceptable.”

Interesting new triple disk sci-fi concept album from the guy behind Lemon Jelly over on Kickstarter and feat Charlotte Hatherley among others... packaging looks pretty wild:

I'm all in for Warren Ellis' recent tease of The Road being finally released on vinyl (not sure if reissue). I've been hoping for that for years. I've not picked up either of the recent issues of Jesse James or The Proposition as I'm avoiding the gold vinyl, in the hope it is pressed on black vinyl soon. I don't know if I'll have the same willpower for The Road - anyone have any feedback on the sound quality of the gold pressings?

@chief - I strongly vouch for both, they sound superb and get heavy rotation round here. I say jump in to the gold flow, Joe!

Cheers @ScoJo. I had a feeling you would know. I'm in there as soon as The Road is available, and might tide myself over with Jesse. So glad these are getting issued.

Me too. It's the greatest partnership in modern film scoring for my money ... with Salisbury/Barrow running second and Bensi/Saunders hot on their tails.

I'm completely with you there, Scott, though I must confess to be oblivious to Bensi/Saunders... I'll need to rectify that if they're in the same bracket of consistent quality as the other two partnerships.

I am definitely desperate for the NOES, but I guess I’ll be going with the Texas Frightmare edition, because I think I’m about done with split color vinyl.
The Beetlejuice and Halloween 4 and 5 both had some noise issues (more noise on one color than another). Beetlejuice was bad enough that I sold it (I have the swirl one now, which seems better, though I’m not sure I like it better than the OG - maybe worth doing a Comparison Corner on that one too?).

I don't own a single split-colour album. IMHO they are hot garbage.

Once again I have to be the poo-ey voice of 'naysayer' on a Mondo/DW art treatment... I do not dig that NoES sleeve at all sir. I feel bad saying it, and I'm sure as ever it's in the eye of the beholder, so I hope it floats others boats :)

I haven't noticed any real issues with Burning Witches splits. But I have a few others that are problematic. And I'm with you ScoJo, that artwork is doing nothing for me. Mondo/DW artwork is more miss than hit for me.

Yeah.... I've almost put my finger on it - I think that, quite a lot of the time, their artwork feels a lot like some kind of 90s Image comic movie tie-in art...? Not my jam really.

Another issue I have with them is they tend to use the same artists over and over and then when you get some one new, it's just immitating a style that fits the "mondo aesthetic" I've lost interest in most of their posters over the last 5 years as well.

Right now it's only a CD release, but (to me) it's pretty exciting. La-La Land Records is releasing Gil Melle's score to The Sentinel today at 12 noon PST. There definitely needs to be more Melle scores released!

I can't recommend ENEMY (both the Villeneuve film and their score) enough @chief, though it's probably not for everybody. Would dearly love to see that one hit wax, and them to hire me to package it ;)

Their scores for The Gift and Autopsy of Jane Doe are both super duper, and their work on Ozark, The Wolfpack doc and the sadly neglected Frank and Lola (fantastic Michael Shannon neo-noir romance thriller) is always on point. I'm a big fan.
