Crystal Lake Memories is that insanely in depth F13th documentary that's close to 7 hours long. Maybe it's cues that Manfridini made for it? I'm not sure if he did anything specifically for it though, I never really looked into it.

Just seen on the twitterverse that finders keepers are to release the score to Ikarie XB-1 (1963) !!
An amazing film, and I at least remember some cookie space jazz numbers from the score.
Proto ALIEN sci fi masterpiece. Zdenek Liska who I know nothing about is the composer.

Liska is a fantastic composer - I highly recommend both The Cremator and The Little Mermaid (both also released by FK on wax ;)

I noticed Tusk OST popping up on my side of the pond to buy in a few places. The samples sound awesome. I've never seen the film. Any one seen Tusk? Is it worth checking out? I've seen Jodorowsky's "essentials" Santa Sangre, Holy Mountain and El Topo.

Tusk is weird.. it's quite 'soft', a children's adventure film. Far removed from the Full Jodo films, but worth a curious watch.

Cheers, I've seen that Cremator OST more than a few times here but never made that Ikarie connection.
It's been a long time since I saw the movie. Blew my mind the first time I saw it. Very ahead of its time stylewise .

25 quid for three tracks? seems a little on the steep side..

I know what you're saying @tex, though it's a limited double 10" in gatefold sleeve with large booklet...doesn't seem too harsh to me (esp when I'm looking at almost twice that for WWs Exorcist re-ish fer instance..)

Musically I have to say Levi remains one of the most exciting composers working currently in film, I'm always going to be interested in what she does. Her new composition 'Everlast' at BBC proms recently was my favourite piece of music this year. Would love to see a release of that.

FIRST SPIN LEVI ALERT:

I had some store credit over at Juno and, browsing through their soundtrack stock for something I mighta missed, discovered that this was still in stock!

Can't believe, after my excitement elicited above, that I managed to not jump on this at the time of release, and also very surprised to see searching the boards here that nobody else appears to have spun it yet round these parts! Particularly considering the high regard with with Under the Skin is held amongst us.

Well it's bloody fantastic folks, goddamn if it's not. Notwithstanding her trademark composing style (I'd call it angular, deconstructed, spacial and emotive, otherworldly...) this score plays in the same sand as her previous work for Glazer's film and also conjours the golden experimental-electronica era of Autechre/Aphex, Manga Sci-Fi (there's a narrating female voice laced through it, and the original film is a manga by British artist Phil Collins), the CHUD score (!), Japanese and British minimalism... but mainly it brought to mind Abagail Mead's incredible score for Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket.

And following on from mine and @Tex's comments above, I will also say that the entire package is really great and worth the price in my eyes. Although yes this probably would have fit nicely on a single12" platter, the whole package really feels awesome in the double-10" format. The large size 12 page art booklet is filled with really gorgeous frames from the film, and the sleeve design is deliciously minimal.

Shame on me for 'ignoring' this for so long, cannot recommend highly enough to you if any of the above resonates with your taste. I think this is, typically, fucking amazing, complex yet highly listenable modern composing by Levi. And I do want to see the film/art installation now!

@scojo @inksb I have this, it’s beautiful. I also wish the FMJ score was released expanded but it’s probably buried somewhere in an archive

Edit- just listening to FMJ side a. In Surfin Bird the singer makes a vocal squeak eerily similar to Pyle just before he murders the Gunnery Sgt. Never noticed that before. Also, note to self, side a licks balls.
