On 'Harry Caul Rain Slicker' silvery clear vinyl.

Good on first listen, though I need to check it again later- it sounded like there was some peak distortion in one channel during a section of intense electro-noise on side A :-/

Further to my above comment on The Conversation - having another listen, it's actually a few seconds on Side B, Track 2 ('Dream Sequence') where there is a particularly percussive, dissonant electronic effect, and it's more of a crackle than distortion really. Very hard to say whether it's inherent in the sound or an actual peak distortion. I might dig out my digital copy and see if I can compare...

More!

*EDIT*

Just listened to my digital copy ripped from CD - during the same section, there is inherent distortion in the same place. It's either intentional (this is a really clangy/disturbing bit of sound from a disturbing sequence) or it's inherent in the master which has carried over to the vinyl version. I favour the former, knowing what a sound-trickster Walter Murch was - deliberate distortion would definitely fit his modus operandi.

In any event, apologies for premature tweaking of panic-buttons.

The LP sounds great otherwise. Most importantly - guys, we have The Conversation on wax y'all! Praise be.

and @scojo - I got mine this morning too. There’s some serious forbidden planet style synth going down on side B (dream sequence) Is there any info as to what the dickens it’s made by? It’s got to be very early synth

Edit - @bez sorry!

I'll look into it - I have two books of Walter Murch's, discussing the films he worked on in depth. What wouldn't surprise me is that he created the sound design 'concrete' style, rather than using synths. Will let you know what I glean from the following excellent tomes, I can't rec'd these highly enough for anyone interested in filmmaking, editing, sound design and all sorts of theories about why certain things work! He's an incredibly curious guy with lots of interests outside of film too, I learned a bunch! (for instance the thing about bees - whereby, you can move a bee hive over a kilometre and the colony will still find it's way home, but if you move it three yards they will never find it!)
