deafmetal wrote:@inksb - Gozu is a great selection. I could now add to the gf/wife stories in this thread. When I first started dating Jamie many years ago, I went over to her place to watch a film, and we were deciding what to watch. After a quick run-down of Miike films I had not yet seen, we landed on Visitor Q... I honestly think I had an incorrect plot summary in my head for this one, as I am not sure why I was pushing so hard for it, but I will leave the reader to decide which to be more impressed with: the fact that we got through the entire film together and kept dating, or the fact that Jamie already had a rip of the film burned onto DVD with English subs.I love that she already had it. I actually don't like Visitor Q all that much, it was one of the few from that period that I missed during my initial discovery of Miike. I watched it last year for the first time. And while I appreciate what he was going for, some of it just seemed shock for shock and served no purpose to the story.

That is a keeper alright.Nope, it has nothing to do with Edwige at all :) My wife likes to pick on me about Edwige because I will watch anything with her in it. She says I'm obsessed although she watches almost every single one of them with me. I just introduced her to the beauty of Barbara Bouchete recently with Cry of a Prostitue, Amuck! and Don't Torture A Duckling. She approves.
I got into a fight after watching a giallo with my girlfriend. She was wondering why Edwige Fenech was showing off her breasts constantly. If that was the reason I loved watching those movies... I took me some time to convince her it was the mystery and music that draws me to that genre...

I'm looking forward to another viewing of Blade of the Immortal though!

I stuck it out with the 13yo though. I was hoping for something akin to The Fifth Element, but this did not really come close at all.
