Well said, Evan. My viewing last night was no exception. Although I have seen the film a few times, the stifling atmosphere always feels suffocating, and bonus sensations if you have ever smelled a large slaughterhouse in the summer heat. The film really pulls you in quickly. The pacing is excellent, even with the meandering of the youngins, and only continues to pick up speed. By the time only Marilyn Burns is left doing her marathon of leaping window smashes, the tension is out of control. Those shots of her bloodshot eye streaming tears are just too good. The ending is like a book slamming shut. Visceral filmmaking, as they say.

Evan, very cool that you are introducing a new generation to this one. Also, I noted the "Hook & Pull Gang" quote this time around!

Such an incredible piece of work. Hooper was really in the zone on that one and Marilyn Burns gives an incredible performance...really taking the viewer into hysteria.

Last weekend finally got to see Lifeforce. As you all already knew it is an experience :-)



Yesterday I was scrolling through Netflix and decided on For A Few Dollars More. What an excellent film that is. I also do love seeing Klaus Kinski in any role. The shape of his face is mesmerizing to me.



Immediately afterwards I wanted more western and Kinski! I watched La Grande Silenzio with the Italian language track and English subs. What an ending!



Oh and I watched the Netflix series Wormwood. And the brilliant Toys that Made Us.

That there are mixed reviews I can completely understand. It is stylistically brilliant. Those wallpapers! But it does drag a bit. It sometimes is a lot to digest. And in the end you wonder why they needed six episodes.
However I was not aware of Errol Morris before and because of this show I downloaded the Fog of War and the Thin Blue Line. I still need to watch those.

Agreed, Jimmy. And, Bez, The Thin Blue Line was a sea-changing documentary. While it's not his strongest work in retrospect, because of what it accomplished, it's undoubtedly one of the most important films of our lifetimes.

PS - If you're just looking for some weird old fun, watch Vernon, Florida or Gates of Heaven. Dry as a bone, but hilarious docs.

You have the full 4K setup though. That will take a year or two for me.
I watched the intro to see if my BR player indeed was region free. It is and damn that intro looked good and sounded fantastic.

I did not realize that. It is not a 4K disc then? I assumed a blu ray could contain a 4K version as you have 4K blu ray players at the moment.
Had a quick scan online and the UK Cultfilms version is a 4K UHD Disc...I'll be damned. And why would that be inferior to the Synapse version? I can't follow it anymore.
-edit- bought the cultfilm 4K version just now. Was only 18,50 pounds including shipping. If I ever get my 4K set I have something to compare :-)

Damn. I think you are right. The have a UHD version but it appears to be only available through a crowdfunding site:
