Huge thanks to @Nathan for tipping me off to this being almost half price (with 85p shipping!) in the Arrow end-of-year sale. And wow - this is a killer! Super fun Zimmer-in-80s-action-sploitation-synth mode, with dramatic orchestral cues by Stanley Myers.

Great pressing. Wow wow wow! And needless to say (in fact, it's almost boring to point it out), the Graham Humphreys wraparound painted art is all kinds of wonderful. I'mma have to watch this film after reading Nico 'Island of Death' Mastorakis' sleeve notes.

Nice Scojo, you got the Zero Boys very quickly ! I'm glad the heads up was useful. I'm interested in getting the Psychos in love too but I don't think I'll catch up through my wantlist fast enough to actually buy that 7". Will try to get it though.

I'm back from the local store. Got a few things. They received copies of Death Waltz Suspiria on Yellow. I think they have only 3 copies. if anyone needs a copy, I can go check if they have any left. they are 31.50USD. add taxes and I can ship for around 12 to 18 usd usually.

I've been spinning this new aquisition :

It's pretty cool, not especially mindblowing but good. I'll spin it again when I'm not busy doing other stuff to get a better listen.

Now on to this :

oh boy ! I'm just done with side A, super good ! I wasn't expecting this. It's got a Mortiis era 1 vibe, like dark dungeon music but remove the medieval undertones. Super cool. Side B is starting up pretty good too.

Image#0995 on thick, black wax...

I have been listening to digital rips of this soundtrack for a while now. Even if Vangelis had created it, we all still might feel some kind of disappointment. The original material is part of our DNA now. I would like to hear Jóhann Jóhannsson's unused material as a comparison to this one. First spin on a late Thursday night is now echoing in the cans... moody whale calls crying out to recapture that 80's Papathanassíou magic mixed with some flying zimmer drones with farting electronic deathrays. I am still not sure what to think of all this, but it's doing the job for me right now.

Well, as usual, Deaf, you've pegged it. I don't grade this score favorably in comparison to the original. Frankly, I don't grade it all that favorably in comparison to the idea of what a Johannsson score could have been. BUT. I find this score strangely compelling all the same. And isn't that what music is all about. It is to me. I'm very glad to own this LP. In fact, I might just spin it right now myself.

@Mateo - This listen takes on some fresh relevance:

Still pondering my best of 2017 list...

@Dollarhyde - Great to see your ever-expanding Seiji Yokoyama collection. I'm always interested in the recommendations you have from his catalog.

Indeed it does, Deaf. I've thought about that album a fair bit when listening to BR2049.
