We had an extended family Last Jedi viewing last night. Our 14yo now claims it is her "favorite Star Wars movie ever", which is remarkable, but her opinion could have been slightly influenced by a shirtless Adam Driver. I will say that I had an enjoyable time, and it was very satisfying to finally see 30+ years of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker fan fiction arrive on screen in some form. I think that really made the entire film for me, and helped move along some of the cheesier bits. It also showed that Mark Hamill still has a great sense of humor. Also, very touched watching all the scenes with Carrie Fisher. I still think she is as beautiful as ever as General Organa, and that shot of her watching the horizon in the high-collar outfit on the salt planet was just incredible. She will be missed, especially by me.

After a long day I finally have the place to myself to watch some flicks. Not sure if the second film will be a Christmas themed one, but the first one sure isn't.

Not halloween but I watched Shadow of the Vampire at the weekend on bbc2. The cinematographer is an acquaintance who also was a friend of Kubrick and worked on the Shining... Willem Defoe got an Oscar nom for it, I hadn’t seen it and now am telling everyone! As it’s actually a lovely film produced by Nicolas cage of all people...

Lovely chap, Lou. I mix location audio for films, and he’s been on a few films with us as lighting gaffer so we get all the late night stories at 3am up a mountain in Wales or something. He’s got at least two lampposts he nicked from the Overlook set build in borehamwood, good friends with SK who was also a massive tea leaf himself! Nicked all sorts them two. Too many tales to tell, but I think Lou is thinking about a book. Or he was last summer anyway! Big QPR fan, and I’m spurs so we chat about football a lot.

Finished work for Christmas, saw Star Wars last night. Apart from the strong vegetarian vibes and Adam drivers tits i thought it was good fun. Seeing Eddie Hitler get the first line of the entire movie was a beautiful Christmas gift. If Rik was alive we could have seen him as well.

My go to is always Part 2 when I pull this DVD out of the stack. I love the great comical performance by Eric Freeman, and about 1/3 of the film is clips from the first movie. The original movie poster has always been one of my favorites and Is absolutely hysterical IMHO with the mirrored image of the handgun reflected in the Christmas bulb:) .....GARBAGE DAY!

I had a chance to show this film to a girl of the newer generation that has been raised on today's tv and cinema without her having any previous knowledge about it. The tension and fear by the end of the film left her slightly nauseous and genuinely disturbed. I told her to saver it... because you will be lucky if a horror movie will ever be able to do that again.
