No doubt. Her Live at White Cube was an amazing commission... I'm still gutted that they utterly ruined the pressings and there was no digital recording.

Oh shit, really? That wasn't on my radar shamefully, will look into it. But doesn't sound promising from what you say :(

There was a repress? I had even emailed them asking if it was coming back a month or so ago and they said they no longer had the rights. Bummed I missed out!
I imagine if you wait a month, someone else will repress it.
Looks like there will be reissue by Warner with 1st December as release date:

Frost, just casually dropping in for the first time in three and a half years dropping Blade Runner bombs like it's no big deal!!
Yeah, I've been checking the forum every now and then and more frequently in the few recent weeks again. Mostly got info from other sources.
I actually found a record shop in Munich that had the Audio Fidelity pressing still listed at the original retail price but they only take orders by email. So I sent them my request and got a reply a day later that the record is not available. Strange, I thought, because their stock is updated daily as their site suggests and as the guy on the phone told me. Today I got a second reply from the owner, which was meant to be for his employee, saying:
"Markus, the AFZ Blade Runner is valued at far more than 100 € by now ...tell him we don´t have it anymore - unlist it from our website."
Bitch move, I´m thinking about leaving a Google feedback for them.

There's a clip of the rehearsal. The records were recorded live, cut and pressed at the event. They turned out extremely noisy which overpowers the delicate nature of the recording.

That's a bullshit-and-a-half sandwich, and not how record stores are supposed to work.

Wow people are paying $200+ for that record? I remember bitching about the price when I got it four years ago. Didn't they press like 10,000 copies? Crazy

Thats the sort of shit that makes me want to burn that record store down. That is criminal behaviour on many levels, not just the brutal cynicism but if they are removing stock they are creating a shortage which raises the price even higher.

On the other hand, it’s a pastiche of vangelis at best. It’s not worth any more than retail, and in a few years it’ll be in bargain bins on discogs

Truth!

Although I have to be completely honest - I've been hovering over the OG Varese press of House/House II forever, and despite liking the WW edition I'm still inclined to grab the VS - at the same price as the new 2lp edition :O
Wanted to comment on this as well.
I have only be collecting for about 4 years now. Because of the DWRC/Waxwork/OWS releases I got into this soundtrack on vinyl thing. At first I wanted to collect all of their releases including all variants. I decided against that idea fairly soon :-)
At the same time I found out about Discogs and wanted to collect OG as well. Or at least all the Varese Sarabande releases. I decided against that idea not long afterwards...
Then I found those beautiful Japanese OGs because of the beautiful people here. Now I want all of those. And I am not deciding against that idea.
But this all means I also do not have a lot of orginal releases and I prefer to buy a beautiful re-issue over a cheaper OG if I cannot get the Japanese version of it. And those Japanese versions are not the cheapest which means I then will get the re-press/re-issue/re-thingy. Think of The Thing for instance or the future release of The Shining.
But then there is a score like The Exorcist. Easy to get an OG and easy to get the Japanese version. And because of that I still do not own any copy of it. Everytime I see it, I am thinking of getting it with a next order. And now there is this Waxwork re-issue. With some nice artwork. And I want that. And next year I'll also get the Japanese version anyway. Because of the obi addiction.

Anyways. My couple of cents.

Interesting discussion and some very good points made by everyone so far. I would also like to quickly share my thoughts.
First of all and as mentioned by many of you in different contexts before, we live in a great time for collecting vinyl (and scores on vinyl in particular) because of all the choice and with labels like DW, WW, OWS, TV, etc., shining the light on some wonderful (hidden) gems.
I fondly support these labels by buying scores that 1. have not been yet released or are expanded and/or 2. are very rare and thus the OGs are too expensive (the downside of the increased interest) and/or 3. have extraordinary packaging.

So if it's only about 3. I would almost always prefer hunting down an OG unless we talk about some really exceptional packaging (like The Thing from WW). I very much enjoy the idea that an OG record has a real 'history'. And as I'm really fond of a good sounding record, the quality of colored vinyl (sadly there often is no choice with new releases) can drive me nuts - to the extent that I have given up on certain new releases which I would have liked to own.

I'm mostly with you at this topic and I'd prefer an original pressing anytime. Fact is, correct me if I'm wrong, that a general rule of collecting vinyl is that an original or very early pressing is more desirable just because it is THE original with original artwork and press sheets which is probably long sold out.
I kinda felt a bit annoyed by all this intensive repressing with super glossy covers, bright colours, new artwork by some hip artist and whatnot (just my little rant, no offense, I know a lot of people like all this extra stuff). Smells like big business with those rather big price tags. Even worse, the prices are inflated immediately because they sell out so fast and get flipped on Ebay, while og copies are still readily available with a little hunting which for me is a big part of the fun of record collecting . It is also difficult to be online at the right time to snag a new re-release. These are part of the reasons for my inactivity here during the past years, a denial to play the game of the big players. Then again, every once in a while I can't resist to get me a repress like The Thing Trapped Under Ice edition but it is very rare. And yes, it is a very good thing when you get a hint at some lost gems that you haven't heard about.

Interesting discussion. I will add a visual element from upon entering my favorite book store yesterday:

Image
This small rack of vinyl is new to the store (Powell's Books), but it was very interesting to me to see a "Back To Black" reissue of Morricone's The Mission prominently displayed. It did not compel me to pay $40 USD retail for it, but it made me wonder if somebody just might be browsing the store and exclaim, "Oh my, soundtracks on vinyl! I'm buying this amazing Morricone album."

I am not sure whether any of this is good or bad, but it's interesting to watch the trends. Anybody know if Hot Topic and Urban Outfitters are still selling vinyl? Perhaps once they stop, it will be the sign that the world has once again moved on.

Also, re: House I/II - don't forget the category of a single LP spread over 2LP on the reissue... but does the color vinyl negate any improved sound quality? ;)

Not only do Hot Topic and Urban Outfitters still sell vinyl, they often sell store-exclusive variants and pressings. Wild times.
