Hey guys, so, it's Fantasia Festival time here in Montreal, and both ARROW VIDEO and VINEGAR SYNDROME have had merch stands here, and while I'm familiar with the ARROW movies, I'm not familiar with most of the movies that VINEGAR SYNDROME have released. any gems I should pick up when they come back next weekend ?

Yes Jimmy, I have those, I wish they'd do more of them. they didn't release anything in 2017, and nothing this year, yet. I feel like that's a market that they could corner, the adult soundtrack thing. Only Private Records are releasing that kind of stuff.

If anyone has some Blu Ray recommendations, I might pick 2 or 3 Blu at their merch stand.

They have some particularly bad films in their canon. I like the Rudy Ray Moore pictures. And while I probably will never fell compelled to own either on blu-ray, I have enjoyed Demonoid and Demon Wind in the past. Jack Frost is funny. Hobgoblins is the red headed stepchild of Gremlins knock-off cinema. Don't Go In The Woods is a (very) minor classic. As are Night Train To Terror, Madman, and Graduation Day. Most of these I wouldn't feel the burning need to own though. Just trying to give you the lay of the land as far as their non-vintage porn catalog is concerned.

I didn't even realize they'd done Liquid Sky. Nice one.

I own a handful of VS releases on blu, they put the utmost care into restoring films that most of would consider garbage. I don't love every release but they have quite a few that are worth owning if you are into grindhouse, trash, b-z grade films. My personal favorites from my collection would have to be

Christmas Evil (one of the best horror xmas themed films that's usually completely overlooked)
Ice Cream Man (not a great movie but kind of fun, the big win for me was the Joe Bob Briggs special feature that they put into the film, just like when it used to air on cable years ago, loved this)
Demon Wind (really fun Evil Dead 2 rip-off with tons of great practical effect gags)
Red Mob (early 90's Russian action film, completely insane stunts, very 80's action feel)
Psycho Cop Returns (no need to see or know anything about the original, Adam Rifkin's sleezy killer cop film)
Raw Force (a special martial arts film)
The Undertaker (might be my favorite VS release, Joe Spinell stars as a disturbing undertaker doing nefarious things in a small town, the finale and a few random scenes have been missing for years and had to be sourced from VHS but it's worth it as without them the film doesn't even make sense)

Thanks for your input guys, I'll check out those titles.
I know that they also have ''Count Dracula's Great Love'' because they did the restoration on that. That one I'm picking up for sure. I started a collection of Paul Nashy movies when Scream Factory started releasing the 2 Nashy collections.

Yup. He went by Rif Coogan in the late 80's and early 90's directing some of the trashier horror fare while still trying to do his other movies under his normal name. I honestly love The Dark Backward, I think it's his best film.

The Dark Backward is (and trust me, I don't say this lightly) completely insane. Only Crispin Glover's roadshow films even come close to it's specific madness.

I honestly don't know who this is, but if you're being serious, I'm sorry to hear that. Nobody fucks with The James Michael!

I was riding in the back seat of his car at 2 am after getting booted from my buddy's car by Gary Busey. Rifkin was bragging about the interns and how he was banging them. Typical stuff, pretty gross though. But yes, Mateo, nobody fucks with JM, except the Buse'.
