I put Death Ship on a few weeks ago and fell asleep half way through. Still haven't returned to it. It was quite slow. Killer poster though

Haha. Yes, it is slow. Did you get to see the shower scene?

And @ScoJo I watched the Children in 2017 :-) So I will skip that one for now. Too many others to see that I still haven't.

Mario Landi's 1979 Giallo a Venezia a.k.a. Giallo in Venice
score by Berto Pisano but mainly re-use of his score to Interrabang

This giallo was pretty bad. I don't understand the higher scores some reviewers gave this on Letterboxd. It was softcorn porn with very misogynistic violence. Not funny, not exciting, not sexy.

I''m pretty sure the love for this film is for how mean spirited it is. I bought it years ago blindly after seeing tons of praise but after reading about it I never bothered to put it on

This appears to be the first movie by Jean Rollin that I have watched. I liked it. Made want to check out a lot more of his work. The info on Wikipedia is a very interesting read:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Rollin
As Jean Rollin's career continued into the 1980s, he started off the decade with the release of La nuit des traquées (The Night of the Hunted) in the summer of 1980. This mainstream feature saw the return of pornographic actress Brigitte Lahaie, in her first leading role in a Rollin film. Upon the film's debut, it was considered a failure. However, it eventually garnered somewhat of a following in later years, as several of Rollin's works have done in the past. La nuit des traquées was shot in less than ten days on an extremely low budget, similar to his pornographic films. Rollin admitted that "I was tired of X-films", as the film was intended to be another hardcore sex film and told the producer "if you want a horror film for the same cost", then, "I can make it in 9 days". Rollin came to the decision to cast actors of the pornographic industry in the picture in order to keep production cost down and to give the actors the opportunity to show their legitimate talent.[12] The film stands as a noteworthy piece of work in Rollin's canon, as it differs from any of his previous work and is a departure from the fantastique genre that his films are greatly known for; the film is often poetic, yet it serves a realistic tone and chilling atmosphere.

DUNE Part 2 trailer dropped yesterday. How is everyone feeling about it? Looking at you Hatter...

I actually can't wait. Since I read the book last year I'm far more excited for this than I was originally.

Oh you know…..usual calm and measured response. Watched it a few dozen times then rewatched part 1 twice (first by myself and then showed to a friend who foolishly opened that interest door) probably gonna watch the lynch this weekend now that I’m in the mood lol.

Yeah I’m stoked, it looks great. And I hope that it gives the fulfillment some people felt was missing from the first one. It’s been a long intermission haha.

None of that surprises me @hatter ;)
I'm definitely due for a rewatch before part 2 comes out and I need to watch the Lynch one as I got a 4K last year but have yet to watch the new transfer.

Managed to squeeze a few in this weekend

Terminator 2

I thought my wife had seen this, she's only seen the first one. Remedied that this weekend. It still holds up extremely well. It's fascinating that the man who made Aliens, T2 & True Lies has been obsessed with his Avatar idea for 2 decades and just can't make real movies anymore.

Cold Fish dir by Sion Sono

I haven't seen this since it originally released back in 2010, I remember it being kind of crazy but holy fuck is it insanely crazy. The final hour of this thing is truly shocking cinema, from the awkward rapes to casually processing dead bodies to the trauma inflicted on the main character. It's all very overwhelming. I often forget that Sono is in the same camp as Miike.

Hello Mary Lou, Prom Night 2 dir by Bruce Pittman

It's been a while since I've watched this and TV's recent release of the score made me want to revisit it. It's still a blast and a film I like way more than the original (I find the original a boring slasher). The effects in this are really fun, always loved the chalk board gag. And it has the classic 80's horror ending forced on it by the studio (the killer's not really dead! muwahahahah)

Haven't seen this since it first released. Just randomly popped into my head the other day and found it streaming on Pluto. Really good movie directed by Steve Buscemi.

Thanks for reminding me to watch Prom Night 2. I have never seen it before.

@Cult
Never heard of that movie. Very interesting cast. Need to check that one out as well.

I have been on a holiday and hope to catch up on movies and record playing from Sunday onwards.

I'm going to continue with another film directed by Buscemi and watch Trees Lounge. This one I've never watched before, but I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it.

I read this movie helped inspire David Chase to make The Sopranos.

This was hugely enjoyable, and as a side bit of amusement for the likes of us there is some cool stuff going on with the scoring - I won’t spoil the fun for you though, we can geek out later when some of you have seen it.

Pupi Avati's 1977 Tutti defunti… tranne I morti
sort of giallo spoof... truly crazy.

Imgur links don’t work anymore… very strange

That sounds fun @Bez, will seek it out.

Here's a treat for all you bums - the original short film version of Street Trash from 1984! Some very gnarly fx work on display in this earlier version. (Unfortunately the uploader has used that weird tilt/shift thing with the upload, presumably to bypass copyright algorithms etc.... tho in some ways it does add to the lo-fi arty trippiness!)

Never heard of that one, but I really like the Pupi Avati films I've seen, so I will seek this one out.

Piccio Raffanini's 1988 Pathos - Segreta inquietudine a.k.a. Obsession - A Taste for Fear
score by Gabriele Ducros

very very 80s...
Watched a LaserDisc rip, so quality wasn't great. But what a very strange and interesting giallo.

Yes Madam dir by Corey Yuen

I recently received the In The Line Of Duty boxset from 88 films and decided to see if my wife was interested in checking any of them out. She chose this one. I've seen it before but it's been a while. Such a fun film with lots of great action, good comedy scenes and a weird camo scene with Sammo & Richard Ng playing "old men" with grey hairspray used to make them look "aged" it was absurd. The final scene was very epic with some truly cool action set pieces & stunts. Highly recommended checking out this Michelle Yeah & Cynthia Rothrock led action film.

The Little Drummer Girl
dir by Park Chan Wook

This one has been on my list for a while, finally sat down and watched the mini series last week. It's a good little thriller with a great cast and Park's distinct direction. If you're into 70's spy / thriller stuff I think you'll enjoy this.

I used to have this on VHS many moons ago and haven't seen it since. It's the one with the head, right?
