ScoJo recommended this a week or two ago. At that point I also had it on my to watch list. I can wholeheartedly say: I liked it!

Halfway through this one I opened this Belgian oddity:

20 years ago I remember you had a beer everyone simply called the Bush beer. It was at that point the heaviest of beers we knew (10,5 % I believe). And when you were of the age of 16-20 and only really knew pilsners/lagers you looked at Duvel or Delirium Tremens as a really heavy beer. Bush was sort of an enigma. And now I am drinking something people call beer with an ABV of 16%. What happened?

Anyways, I have about 12 peanuts left and a lot of heavy beer so I will try to make it through one more motion picture.

Not done yet, switching to TV for a few. Watching an episode of The Shield. Man I love this show, it’s been awhile since I watched. Might be time for a complete rewatch.

I agree that The Shield is a very good show, Pete. It's got its warts, but it is a hard boiled graphic novel of
a program about corrupt cops that, thankfully, largely exists outside the more modern, more realistic definition of what American corrupt police are truly like.

Just a heads up one of the most popular detective kindaichi movies the inugami family, or the inugamis , is on YouTube, with one of Yuji ohno's first and one of his best scores. With eng subs. only YouTube I know but may not be up there for long. I've struggled to find these kindaichi movies so was happy to stumble across this.

Ending the weekend with this gem. I was fun watching Carl Weathers in all his supporting rolls. I wonder why he doesn’t have more starring rolls. While watching all these Carl Weathers movies I looked him up on IMDB, there were a couple movies I haven’t seen but I feel like I should track down. Force 10 from Navarone, Death Hunt and Hurricane Smith to name a few. Not to mention some made for TV movies.

Sadly, there's no mystery. It's because he was a black actor in Hollywood during his prime years of the 70s and 80s. And considering the massive hurdle that likely was for him he did exceptionally well for himself, landing many prominent roles in blockbuster films; many of which he helped make iconic as you're keenly aware.

That is one excellent title screen! I believe I still need to watch this one for the first time. After JCVD I think Bronson is the most likely candidate for another challenge...

That's basically what I've been doing the last few weeks, but with a little break built in. I think there are more than a few of these that will be right down Main St for you, Bez.

27. Until Death (2007)

Image

JCVD was terrific in this one. Playing a very believable absolute asshole during the first half. But the movie in total was way to uneven and unbelievable. I was thinking of putting this one with the lot at number 13, but for some reason I found it different enough to go just in front of those.

1. Timecop
2. Hard Target
3. Bloodsport
4. Cyborg
5. Nowhere to Run
6. Maximum Risk
7. In Hell
8. Legionnaire
9. Replicant
10. Knock Off
11. Wake of Death
12. Until Death

13. Lionheart
13. Kickboxer
13. No Retreat, No Surrender
13. Death Warrant
13. Double Impact (of course everyone should see this one, same as Cyborg)
13. Sudden Death
13. The Quest
13. Double Team

One more to go before I re-visit JCVD.
