Lots of great cast members to choose from of course, but it’s the perfect opportunity for you to follow Frances Fisher into Tough Guys Don’t Dance if you haven’t seen it - a big fave of mine :)

@ScoJo
I was planning on going with Morgan Freeman and Lucky Number Slevin.
Because I am not that adventurous :-)
However, thank you for the recommendation. I haven’t watched a movie from 1987 yet so Though Guys Don’t Dance is a great pick. I will go with that one.

Great to hear! And now, in terms of your fun game, you have ‘Wings’ (should you choose to use them!)

The world is your oyster sir!

Make sure you throw Vice Squad in there - a real doozie, from the director of Death Line, Dead & Buried and Poltergeist 3!

Another one I probably wouldn't have known about if it was not for @ScoJo... I can understand people really loving this one. I liked it. But found it a tad too boring at times. But it has some terrific stuff in as well.
And I love the songs in it.

Looking forward to watching more Wings Hauser in the near future!

Finally- Tom Atkin’s beautiful mug in 3D!

Been after this one for a while for my 3D collection, I hear it’s pretty decent too.

Saw it in 3D in the theaters, had fun. I thought it was decent, quite a few fun kills but it's not a "good movie" but I also don't think the original really deserves the love it gets either, it's kind of just an ok slasher.

Decided to rewatch the entire Peter Hyams filmography after a fun screening of The Presidio with my lady. This is a solo bolo tho.

V/H/S 85

This was really good. If you like the VHS series and/or found footage stuff then watch this one. They dialed back the goofiness that the last two entries had and really just went for a serious tone through out. Direction was very solid (Scott Derickson did one of the segments) and the acting was good through out. I don't think there was a bad segment which is rare for an anthology film. Definitely recommended

Rumpelstiltskin

90's dreck. This was boring and awful. The only redeeming aspect of the film is Charles Bernstein's score. I remember seeing the VHS cover but never renting it, I'm glad I never wasted my money on it.

Creepozoids

This was surprsingly fun for what it was. It's insanely low budget Full Moon sci fi horror feature. There's a lot of running down the same or similar hallways and a few rooms but they made the best of what they had and probably spent half the budget on practical effects. It's not anything special but it's punching well above it's weight class.

Carlito's Way

I think I just don't like Al Pacino. This movie just didn't do much for me. I know lots of folks around here love it and it's well made. I can see the appeal but nothing really clicks for me. Also Luis Guzman's character in here looks like the inspiration of Murderface on Metalocalypse, it cracks me up.

Continuing the Barbara retrospective

Space Truckers

Been a few years since I've seen this, it's goofy as hell but quite fun. Stuart had such great sense of humor in his work. Barbara's NYC accent is "special" and I love it.

You're Next

She pretty much was non existent in acting until this film which is considered her revival. I really enjoy this film from Wingard. It's mean, has some nasty kills, nasty characters and overall well directed action. Barbara plays a great distressed rich mother.

Sun Choke

We skipped We Are Still Here because we watched it earlier in the year so we moved onto this one which was a first time watch for us. It's kind of horror, defintely some horrific shit in here but it's more focused on it's character and her fragile psychological state. Barbara plays a nasty stepmother / psychologist who's manipulating it's main character. The film is slow but paced well enough to keep your attention. There's moments of brutality and some pretty good performances all around. I enjoyed it quite a bit, not something I'd rewatch often but it's worth a watch if you have never seen it.

Tales of Halloween

I've always enjoyed this anthology film, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea and none of it is particularly original but it's just a fun watch. It's been a few years and my favorite segment is the Jason/Evil Dead/Aliens mash up, it's so silly and fun. My wife's favorite is the Hansel & Gretel one. Made me a little sad seeing Stuart Gordon in here, wish he was still making movies for us.

Barbie dir by Greta Gerwig

This was pretty damn fun, lots of great cameos, it's quite funny and the main cast just went all in on it. I expected it to be entertaining but didn't expect to like it as much as I did. There's a certain actor who got a hilarious fight scene that I just was not expecting, I don't want to spoil it but man it was so dumb and great. Didn't realize that Noah Baumbach was a cowriter on it until the credits.

The Barbara programming continues but is coming to a slow as I'm almost caught up and will be waiting for Suitable Flesh later in the month

Beyond the Gates dir by Jackson Stewart

Haven't watched this since it came out, I remember being slightly disappointed that they didn't fully commit for the ending but that's very clearly budgetary constraints. I enjoyed it a lot more upon this viewing. I still think the ending is a little weak, fighting all the same people that died earlier in the film doesn't work for me, it should have just been something else entirely but outside of that it's great. Love the cast and the score is excellent.

Dead Night
dir by Brad Baruh

I bought this film on Google Movies back in 2017 or 18 and completely forgot to watch it. The concept is great but there's one very clear weak point of this film and it should have been cut out. The basic premise is a family is heading to a cabin that is built over some mineral deposit that is supposed to help "cleanse" you of bad juju, which for this family is struggling with the father being diagnosed with cancer and every one is at each others throats. They get to the cabin and some on finds a woman passed out in the woods in the middle of winter (enter Mrs Crampton). Barbara is mean in this film and I love it, she fully commits to this nasty persona and it was the best part of the film outside of a few really cool practical effects. The problem is periodically we cut to a TV show that's explaining what happens in this cabin over this weekend, even though we haven't seen it play out yet. They literally ruin parts of the film with it, it's also really poorly done to make it seem like bad TV but it just comes off as bad filmmaking. It didn't need it and would have been better with out it. I can't fully recommend this to everyone but if you are interested in a flawed film with a good performance from Barbara as well as an interesting concept give this one a go. It definitely seems to have flown under the radar all these years.
