VHS 2...good enjoyed it loads, same deal as the last one. 7/10

The devils business ...my fave DW release last year, so was interested in checking this one out. Not sure the film worked as well post "kill list" and the "don't look now" child monster bit let all the sinister tension down and could of been done better! 5/10

Outcast...pagans,chavs,pikies and wichcraft all on a council estate, even a bit of the incredible hulk thrown in at the end! loved it. Same vibe as wake wood and nice score from the same bloke who did the shite music for dragons den???! 8/10

V/H/S 2 - Mixed bag. Wingard's segment was awful, Eisner's was the best, and everything else was passable. Nothing beat the succubus segment from the first one, but I enjoyed the experience so it wasn't a waste. 6/10

The Purge - Varied from sublimely ridiculous (first third) to flat out ridiculous (last two-thirds). I still think the general concept could make for a great exploitation film. It's just that the modern horror-thriller they were trying for didn't work. Find a director like Eisner from the previous film, given his experience on Hobo With a Shotgun, relocate the sequel to a large metropolitan area, and frame the film as one long chase sequence through the streets from a group of depraved yuppies and you'll have yourself gold. 6/10

I have had novo virus for the last 3 days. Had a 7 film horrorthon yesterday!!! today need some light adult fantasy ..

the lost continent ...hammers weirdest, every bit as bonkers as i remembered it!

john dies at the end..part buckeroo banzai, part bill and ted, part repo man ...silly good fun. if i was 12 again id be watching this every day. Clearly working with a tight budget some fantastic imagination, quite admirable in the "no risk taking" times hollywood are in!! 6/10

Evil Dead (2013)
An OK effort despite stupid plot points and very inconsistent logic. The acting was good as well as the production work. I just think that the director really botched the whole thing by thinking that a million gallons of blood and some dismemberment automatically makes a movie scary. Sure there are a few successful jump scares, but those are a dime-a-dozen these days. Had the director taken a different route, trying to wring some real despair, grief and desperation (like Pascal Laugier's Martyrs) out of the whole thing, this would have been epic. Instead we get moderate scares and a ridiculous amount of blood. The real saving grace for me was Roque Banos great score. 5/10

No One Lives (2013)
Really bad movie that started out quite promising but soon descended into boring torture porn/slasher antics. Stay clear and don't waste your time. 3/10

Stoker (2013)
Really enjoyed this one despite the slow start. The script is not that good to be honest, but Park makes the most of the whole thing and keeps things moving. The production work is glorious to behold and the acting is equally good. Sad to see Kidman wasted in a quite thankless role though. Great score by Clint Mansell. Might get this one on vinyl. 7/10

Palmat: I can't recommend the Stoker soundtrack enough. If you snag it on vinyl, it's just Mansell's score, along with a spoken piece by Mia Wasikowska. There are fewer dialogue excerpts than the CD version. No Nancy / Lee cut, either -- which I would've preferred to the the Emily Wells' "Become the Color" track. I know it's original to the film, but it shows up on the soundtrack at the beginning, rather than the end, and just sets the mood oddly.

Almost drunk and slightly bored, so it's probably time to dig these cheeky monkeys out again...

About to watch The Wicker Tree. And my God have mercy on my soul - in my defence, I fully intend to be drunk by the time it finishes.

EDIT: This is possibly the worst film I've ever seen.
