I just showed Phase IV at my pub last Wednesday. It's a bit laconic in the early going for a group viewing, but, even so, it went over well. I just like it so dang much, I couldn't resist. I showed Zombeavers directly afterward to assuage the more rambunctious set.

Oh damn, that's awesome. For those unaware, it's directed by Saul Bass; one of the greatest graphic designers of our time. Did you guys know that Saul Bass actually planned, storyboarded, and directed the famous shower scene from PSYCHO?! Fucking blew my mind when I learned that!

I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have till I left. The Pacific Northwest is a beautiful place to live. Some good vinyl spots hidden away up there too.

It's a nice HD print of the film that's on Netflix for sure....though not as nice as my 16mm print!

Wish I could show you a colour/composition comparison, it's definitely been re-graded to more modern tastes, and for my money the compositions are way nicer in 4:3 as opposed to matted/cropped 16:9.

Sorry to geek out there on ya, this film's a bit of an obsession of mine! (I'm sure @static was just counting the days before I waded in, haha.....)

And to finish - why hasn't someone cool like @ironjaiden knocked the shit out of a re-poster yet?? Here's the tacky (yet groovy) originals...I have the German one sheet:

@disco or anyone really, what equipment is needed to play a 16mm and where on earth do you get your 16mm prints from? Just on ebay or are there specialist places on the dark corners of the internet? Always wondered about this.

@Hardrain you need a 16mm projector (with a built in speaker or line level audio outputs) and a screen.

wow, I knew that 16:9 was often reduced to 4:3, but I didn't know the opposite happened. lame.

the nails it, Disco, you need to have a screening the rest of us can attend. I nominate Portland, Maine as the central-most location between the US west coast and Europe. I'll arrange the venue.

Sold. I need a vacation anyhow and what better place than Maine? It says so on the license plates for crying out loud! Also, Disco, your screening flyer is immense. I would consider hanging that up. I'd never seen the German one sheet either so thanks for that. Now if we could just get a HD..uh..transfer of Idaho Transfer somewhere, that would be a day maker.
