Keep you eye on this one "The Dreamlands"... adapted from H.P. Lovecraft’s Dream Cycle, is a new film project by director and writer Huan Vu. It will be Vu’s third feature film since DIE FARBE – the award-winning adaptation of “The Colour Out of Space”.

It's in the works still, but I look forward to it.

Although it isn't a Lovecraftian story, 'When Darkness Loves Us' by Elizabeth Engstrom is truly a creepy story in the same vein.

I thought Stuart Gordon's Dagon was alright. Not a great film, but definitely interesting.

The Call of Cthulhu (2005) is amazing. One of the best.

@phantom - I have a bit of a soft spot for Dagon, some nice touches on the original story plus the soundtrack is ace.

The Dunwich Horror is fun, pretty far removed the original story, but really fun. Great soundtrack too.

The Call of Cthulhu shown above is probably my favorite. It's incredibly well done.

I think "Call of Cthulhu" is the best out of all of the film adaptations of Lovecraft's work. "Dreams in the Witch House", the Masters of Horror adaptation, is kind of fun and not too bad. I liked "Dagon" but it's the "Shadow Over Innsmouth" not really "Dagon" and it's not that great. I think "Re-Animator" is a fun movie if you completely ignore that it came from the Lovecraft story. The original story is absolutely amazing and the adaptation is great but for mostly different reasons. I'm still a big fan of Carpenter's "In the Mouth of Madness" which gets the Lovecraft vibe so right and is a very underrated film. Also, "The Thing" is a good Lovecraftian film. The original short story from the 50s is pretty much a direct rip of "At the Mountains of Madness".

I don't know about you guys but I hope that Del Toro never gets to do "At the Mountains of Madness". I can't stand Del Toro, honestly.

I want to say that the most infuriatingly bad one I've seen is The Tomb (2007), but I think I'll rewatch it to make sure. Castle Freak was pretty disappointing when I finally found it on DVD years ago; I liked the movie, but not as an homage to Lovecraft.

Dreams in the Witch House is pretty fun, but some of it is downright goofy. It would be interesting to see a Re-Animator film that follows the story more closely. I still haven't seen In the Mouth of Madness, 'cause I can't stand Sam Neill, but I'll give it a watch soon.

Sam Neill can be very hit or miss but I love him in "Event Horizon", "In the Mouth of Madness", and "Omen III".

Event Horizon was scary enough to cause a college friend of mine to sit with his hands over his eyes for half the film when we went to see it in the cinema.

I must admit when I think of good space horror, I always think "Alien" and "Event Horizon".

The first time I watched Event Horizon it scared the shit out of me. But it was one of the first proper horror movies I have seen. Now it just seems so tame to me. Desensitization from all the other crazy stuff I have watched.
