Had to post this in Movies as it seems the most relevant of the existing categories...

THE MANCHESTER MORGUE

Legendary blog. "The Phelpster" has been doing great work for aeons. Only check in occasionally these days (like a lot of blogs, he isn't giving away great weird obscure music/stuff any longer...has become a review site) but always a pleasure when you step thru the Morgue doors.

Probably some of you know about this site already,obviously we all want the original on vinyl and some may object to this sort of business going on but I sometimes stop by here and grab one, they have a great selection of bits and bobs. @RG sorry dude by FBI-ied I mean't they stopped blogging (sites kinda got shut down a few years ago with FBI warnings all over the place - bloggers with download links just decided it wasn't worth all the hassle) and all the links got shut down, just saying - they were great for info.

@dagar I think its okay to download music. People moan about how it rips people off but in truth i think it opens you up to listen to stuff you would never have been exposed to, and subsequently may buy an album or a concert ticket, especially true if you are into vinyl. I'd never go and buy a bunch of stuff that i had no idea what it was, and i for one has spent plenty of money on music!

Also, (sorry for going off topic) as a photographer, i started off by letting my images be used for free, and even now I wouldn't be upset if people obtained an image for their own personal use, because, like vinyl, too many people want that unique print on the wall.

@phil totally man, if someone uses your work for free (that's a bit shitty) but more power to you, of course it would be better to get some cash but it's also about getting your work out there. Maybe it'll be credited to you with a link to some of your work.
Download sites are great to find albums you may not have considered. I quite like spotify as well for trying new stuff, and if I like something, can get my hands on it or afford it. I will buy it, but now only vinyl.
I used to go to loads of gigs and festivals and most of the music I discovered was from sites like this, probably where I first learned about Goblin too.
I must say though with so much coming through on vinyl these days hardly ever use 'em anymore
