I have never seen Wake in Fright. Sounds very interesting!

Finally rewatched this gem tonight:

Watched Carolina Caroline this weekend, it's basically a spin on the bonnie & clyde formula, story is far from original but it's carried by it's leads Samara Weaving & Kyle Gallner plus some really nice editing and cinematography (at times). I really enjoyed it so if you like either of those actors it's worth checking out

Also watched The Invite, holy hell was that a crazy anxiety inducing 2 hours. I loved it and was really impressed but holy shit was in uncomfortable to watch at times

And the highlight of my weekend was The End of Oak Street. Fucking dinosaurs in a movie that's not Jurassic Park on the big screen!!!! This was just fun, cast was great, music was great, story was silly and fun concept. Don't think too hard about the idea of time travel & it's repercussions/paradox's that might be there. This was the first movie to get me into the theaters in months, highly recommended

Ooh Triangle - it’s been a while but I definitely remember enjoying and thinking it was Christopher Smith’s best film. I maybe watched twice in fact, just for fun of seeing with different viewpoint as you do with that kind of film. And hey @bez, looks like you’re on a Melissa George run after The Limey then this! Maybe Dark City next! ;)

Also- just to throw some balance onto @inks’ thoughts since I also saw those: really liked The Invite (though the very ending was a bit weak imo) and really though Oak Street was pretty dreadful (detailed thoughts to myself), after allowing myself to get excited thinking David Mitchell was finally set to ‘follow up’ on promise of his big success.

I do agree on the ending of The Invite, it kind of just felt like they didn't want to end on a horrible note like they probably should have. I knew nothing about Oak Street going in other than it had dinosaurs and was Mitchell's new film. As some one who felt like It Follows got too much praise and never bothering to watch his follow up to it, I had no expectations from him going into this. To me it was just a fun summer blockbuster that we have been kind of lacking for many years since practically everything is superhero, franchise, spectacle. It's definitely not a perfect movie but one that I just had a lot of fun with

In memory of Screaming Mad George, a long-time favorite of mine.

If you are lucky, you might land a job that perfectly aligns with your artistic nature—and for me, that was Society for SMG. Its wild, Dali-like transformations resonated perfectly with his creative spirit.

Static SMG created that flying eyeball orb from Big Trouble in Little China that was your previous icon. While I never worked at his studio, I had a highly memorable, love-hate interview at his shop back in the early nineties. For sure an interesting artist.
