It was not bad. But not good either. Love Cynthia Rothrock. It simply was a bit boring between action scenes.
I feel like this could be said of most Cynthia Rothrock films where she's the lead, I need to check this out though

Last couple of weeks I rewatched The Godfather. My girlfriend had never seen these before. Very happy to see she loved them. Even part 3. Which I also loved.
Also rewatched Taxi Driver. Another first for my girlfriend. I forgot so much from that movie. Because of the amount of iconic images spread everywhere your memory has those clear, but so much other stuff I forgot. Especially the ending.

Yesterday I watched Lawrence of Arabia for the first time. Another classic and now I can understand why. For a movie from 1962 and at almost 4 hours long it didn't feel slow one bit. Beautifully shot. I did have check my media player connection when the movie started and I could only hear music and see a black screen for over 4 minutes :-)

Last week I received a 77" LG C4 OLED, I haven't really seen a new oled since the C1 series launched over 7 years ago. This thing is beautiful and I'm blown away by how good it looks. The only downfall to having incredible black levels is that poorly compressed video files you see giant blocking in dark areas pretty easily. I'm going to have to start downloading higher quality stuff just so I don't notice that

This weekend we watched the most recent Severance episode, my first time viewing something in Dolby Vision (lovely), Heart Eyes which was a fun goofy slasher that never takes itself seriously with some fantastic gore and Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person, which was very fun spin on vampire tropes. Good amount of humor too

Wow! I am jealous. At what distance are you sitting from the TV?
I have the top of the line 55" Sony OLED from around 7 years ago, but the OLEDs from the past couple of years are running circles around it because of their much higher brightness.
Hopefully I can get a new TV next year. I am going up to 65" then. I don't have the room for a larger one. And I am sitting at 2,5m from it.
Also won't be going for a Sony anymore because of the HDMI handshake issues I have with my Denon receiver (according to the internet I am not alone with that combination). Might go for an LG as well. But that won't be for at least another 15 months.

Good to hear about Heart Eyes and the Humanist Vampire. Both are on my to watch list. Unfortunately I haven't had the time lately to watch some stuff by myself at night.

I sit about 12 ft (3.6m) away, it's a little big but the mrs was adamant about getting a larger TV than what we had which was a 65" I did unfortunately discover none of my equipment is up to date and capable of taking advantage of Dolby Vision so I bought a new Roku player and I'm watching for a Panasonic DP-UB820 to go on sale (it's normally $500) but it's lower priority bc majority of the time I'm watching digital files anyways. My receiver is pretty old too, it has hdcp 2.2 on it but it can't do eARC just standard ARC which I can't get to work so I run my PC into the TV and do optical out to the receiver. My bluray player has HDMI out to TV and separate HDMI to AVR so I can at least utilize the Atmos for UHD's

I think for how far you sit away from your TV a 65" would be perfect

I did like it but couldn’t give it more than 3/5. Not sure why because the more I think about it the more I think I should rate it a bit higher.

Now watching some more Cynthia Rothrock.

I think 3-3.5 is a good rating for it, it's still a bit rough in places, I just rather enjoyed it even with it's flaws

Yes, I agree with you. Definitely enjoyable.
I went through my digital BR collection today and have so much interesting stuff I still need to watch.

Now this one I absolutely love! Is this Vinegar Syndromes version?
It’s the 88 Films version.
I do have The Witch from Nepal from the VS bundle.

Decided to watch an Antonioni film which I’ve never gotten around to - his final ‘solo’ directing credit in 1982. Got very excited by this opening credit!

Sadly there’s not much of Foxx’s score in the film, but it does have a bunch of tracks by Virgin electronic artists of the time including OMD, Steve Hillage, Japan, Peter Baumann and yes, Tan Dream! So it seems Antonioni was right there pioneering such scoring along with Michael Mann.

What a film. What a score. The movie that launched a thousand mod-crop white boys with attitude.

Need to check out more Antonioni
You might get a bit bored with Antonioni as there‘s not much happening on screen during 3 hours or so.

This comes across more harsh than I mean it, I actually do like Antonioni but I need to really be in the mood for some intellectual, ‚arty‘ cinema to enjoy the experience.

My impression of Identification of a Woman is that it generally feels less focussed than his other work, with the trademark ‘metaphysical mystery’ aspect less defined and impactful. He was 70 at this point after all! But his usual cast of bougie, malaise-ridden navel gazers was all present, and there is one stunning section in the middle with a couple driving fast through thick fog. The use of contemporary electronic pop artists was definitely a highlight although tracks were dropped in a very scattershot way throughout, but I still got big feels hearing Japan/Sons of Pioneers in an Antonioni film, and OMD’s classic Souvenir played at length during an explicit sexual encounter!
Speaking of which, as so often with this filmmaker the sexual politics are horreeeendous haha… if Gen Z ever discover this guy. Oof.

I haven‘t seen this one yet, but it sounds like it‘s worth watching, thanks for your take on it.
I have not been in the mood for these kind of films for quite some time, but that will likely change again. During my studies (a long time ago) I really enjoyed watching the films of the big Italian and French directors, sometimes I would watch the same movie twice (Antonioni‘s L‘Eclisse was one of them) within a few days to understand the film language and the intention of the filmmakers better.

Watched Dead Talents Society last night, such a fun and clever film. Didn't realize it was mostly comedy but it works very well
Definitely worth watching if you're a fan of asian ghost story horror movies
