Tonight’s viewing, thanks to brother Static for the hookup.

I’ve been holding out on a rewatch for a long while, awaiting this new 4k transfer. It’s pretty glorious.

@inksb
I have never seen What We Do In The Shadows. Looks like a lot of fun.
And also have Strange Darling high on my list.

@ScoJo and @Static
Great to see that 4k version is excellent. Need to give The Hitcher a rewatch soon.

Yesterday I found out about the Hooptober lists on Letterboxd. Great way to set a challenge for some movies to watch this season.
But what I found the most interesting is this list with a lot of 'horror' movies I didn't even know existed. Some aren't really horror but nevertheless sound interesting, like this one from Hong Kong: https://letterboxd.com/film/mad-fate/
Or from Thailand: https://letterboxd.com/film/the-undertaker-2023-1/
And also movies from India. For some reason I never check out if there is interesting horror from India.

Man, I really want to have more time watching movies...

Yesss Bez!

This movie terrified me as a boy - one of those late night tv watches way past my bedtime with no idea what I was watching until it was too late. The opening scenes were extremely traumatic and have definitely stayed with me my whole life. Then as a grown up you find it it was just a 'lesser' Romero.

Funnily enough I rewatched Monkey Shines the other day because of a podcast and, as always, had a fantastic time!

btw - the podcast also mentioned a show called Chimp Crazy which I might be too squeamish to check out (on many levels - wild animal husbandry is fucked up and nuts to me...) Has anyone watched it?

Today's afternoon film on the Lord's Day:

I have a composite version which is the most complete copy available, I created it using an unreleased DVD print that was supervised by Ken Russell (then shelved/prevented from release) which has the problematic excised scenes reinstated in full, but I've merged it with a superior quality 720p hdtvrip.

If anybody needs a hookup, holler.

Really liked The Crazies for how it is made, but couldn’t give it more than a 7/10. Maybe 7,5.
The Entity left more of an impression…

Monkey Shines doesn’t ring a bell. But that tv show you speak of appears to be in the same realm as that Tiger King stuff from some years ago. Crazy people being crazy about specific animals. Can’t spend my time watching it.

Enjoy The Devils!

Interesting to see this posted. I might be out to see this projected on 35mm this week. Always fun to see these screenings with a good crowd.

I'll take a link to that Devil's, I think I have a composite cut but don't remember how complete it is

I need to revisit Monkey Shines myself, I watched it probably 20+ years ago and don't remember much of anything from it

Ultimately my attempt to view the above TPFWWM fan edit was thwarted for technical reasons… but never mind, because I have since learned the existence of ‘The Missing Season’ reedit project which re-imagines/reorganizes the film/deleted scenes into a three episode mini-series, complete with titles and intros etc, that came after season two!

Fingers crossed, I’m sourcing now and hoping to dive in this evening - will report soon!

Excited for this - Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s new remake of his 1998 crime film The Serpent’s Path.

Watched Azrael tonight, new film from the director of Cheap Thrills starring Samara Weaving. I really enjoyed it, no dialog, 86 minutes and it's a blistering pace

Sold out the theater. They had to add another late screening.
