This weekend we tried to cram a bunch of movies in so we are not super behind on the monthly calender

Onslaught was a blast, it feels like a slightly less version of The Guest but still full of fun action, a great score and some gnarly effects. Feel like there was a very different version of this initially in script form and they cut a few things out to keep it a tight 90 mins

The Fly. Found a 35mm scan of this and also realized I don't own it on bluray, only DVD. It's a classic and was a blast to rewatch as it's been a few years

Alucarda was great, can't believe it took me so long to watch it

Society. The Shunting is perfection

This all sounds excellent!
Great idea of the Fly in 35mm. I tend to try and watch everything on the latest or best BR/UHD release. But really need to try and watch those scans.

I have been on holiday this week. Very lovely but no films. From Sunday I hope to get back to watching my horror list.

some of the scans I have found are the best version of it available, in particular this is in reference to both True Lies and Terminator 2. It's as close to how they looked before he went in and tinkered with their color timing and for True Lies ruined it with awful dnr & upscaling. But for most of them it's just fun to seem them in the film format warts & all (many are scratched, have some frames missing at reel changes, some are faded, etc) I used to live next a local indie cinema who did 35mm screenings quite often (usually 1-2 times a week) and I would try to catch as many as I could

Going to try and watch Hope and Buddy this weekend

Fun!

EDIT: Wow- the last two eps of this truly sucked, disastrous! What were they even thinking?

For the curious then- fair warning.

I was curious about this one, still think I'll check it out but reactions have been very mixed

Buddy was ok, loved the childrens program world stuff it was very creative and unsettling, the real world stuff I think fell pretty flat and took me out of it. Probably would have worked better as a 45-60 min short with out the real world stuff at all

Didn't get to Hope but did rewatch The Ritual which I think still is super strong. And I checked out The Lodge, that was far darker than I realized. Depressing shit
