How was this one?
Filthy :-)
I gave it 3/5 stars. Depending on the mood I could give it something between 5/10 and 6,5/10. Score was fantastic but that is because it uses music from Death Smiles on a Murderer.

I enjoyed the first 45mins of HERETIC very much- it’s not that the second half is bad, its just that the build up was more exciting than the destination. Recommended in any event, yes Hugh Grant is very good but the girls are even better.

Really looking forward to that one!

Very enjoyable. Some great effects in it.
Released by Terror Vision on Blu Ray.

I haven't watched The Octagon in years but remember enjoying it quite a bit. Also looking forward to checking out Heretic.

My wife saw something online showing clips from Kurosawa's Dreams and asked if I had seen it. It's been about 20 years so I went downloaded Criterions bluray of it and we watched it last night. That final segment is so good, I absolutely love it and it still rings true today 34 years later

Also watched the French film Meanwhile on Earth, an interesting sci fi slow burn. It has a touch of Under the Skin vibes to it but don't go into it thinking that is what it is going for

Just cueing up CALL GIRL …. scored a super scarce VHS print of this 1982 film starring pop idol MIE, tied in to her album of the same title. Excited for this one!

I can't remember any Kurosawa movie... I am sure I have seen some like Seven Samurai 25 years ago. The coming year I really want to revisit (or watch for the first time) some of the movie classics. Seven Samurai, Laurence of Arabia, Harakiri, Stalker, The Seventh Seal...
And I am finally going to start with a folk horror series. Probably first Haxan followed by the movies in the All The Haunts Be Yours boxsets from Severin.
So much to see, so little time... as always.

Very enjoyable, even in the poor beta-dubbed copy that’s the only way to see it (it looks like a pron…) Awesome Tokyo-80s vibes, strange plot that swerves from Emmanuelle-style erotic call girl adventures into political psycho drama. Music is top cool.

I may show my wife Seven Samurai. She's not really into samurai movies so it's just one we never watched together before but she seemed curious after watching Dreams.

Over the next few weeks I'm going to show her a bunch of Wong Kar Wai films. She's only seen In the Mood For Love so I'll be starting with As Tears Go By and working chronologically up to In the Mood then skipping to 2046 after that. Maybe capping it off with The Grandmaster if I feel like revisiting it

Watched Blink Twice today. Went in blind. It was not what I expected. Kudos to Zoë Kravitz for making it.

Now back to Norris.

This is a bummer. I mean, sure we’ve all basically guessed that he’s most probably a sack of shit - but even a sack of shit has a bottom. Sly seems to be finding a new level. Sad.

I experienced a live score performance of Koyaanisqatsi by the Philip Glass Ensemble along with the Oregon Symphony orchestra and chorus last night in a beautiful theater here in Portland. Sold out crowd. The sound was both intense and thrilling. Although Mr. Glass was not there in person conducting, I was very impressed by the live performance of the ensemble as they wailed away to produce the delirious layers of composition. No long samples or pre-recorded loops that I could observe, everything looked to be performed live on keys with hand-breaking efficiency and trance-like monotony. I have seen the film a few times at home, but this experience was very transcendental. I know you can kind of take from the film what you want or interpret it in your own way, but it seems ever more prophetic as the years go by. I highly recommend catching this experience live if at all possible.
