Took apart the RTR today to give it a good cleaning and deoxit all the pots and switches. Seems like it really needs it every few years. First post work listen! :)

Some more work on the Akai and my cassette decks today. Finally received some test cassette tapes and an open reel test tape as well that were all on the slow boat from Europe. spent the afternoon calibrating speed and playback and record levels on all my decks. :)

The work continues! Replaced all the transistors on the playback side, and waiting on some more in the mail to redo the record side as well. Playing with inky black backgrounds now. :) Super happy I finally did it.

Now you need to make another one Complete Dune release of the Zimmer score. What is the longest runtime you can fit on a reel?

very nice. how many customs have you made so far? what have you been paying for reels? I always assumed they were kind of expensive

7 so far. 3 of those were updates and re-recordings of ones i made years ago. Tapes can be expensive but I found a really great source for ampex tapes that were used once by an audio book company as master tapes and bulk erased.
