Theme from Blood for Dracula

Some of you may already be familiar with this one, although I have never seen it on these pages therefore this is my choice. I am always a great lover of classical piano music and this truly has one of the most beautiful themes. The score itself is mainly the theme tune played throughout, but sudden changes between calm and panic and quite playful on the whole. I have never seen the film itself but it does appear to be a bit of a campy comedy horror, which is quite a good thing!?
I would say if you're a fan of Let the right one in by Johan Soderqvist or The Awakening by Claude Bolling this may be your thing, even the Neckromankik album is similar. This was recorded in 1974 and was the second of the two albums I discovered by Claudio Gizzi.

Memories of Romania

I love the way these sounds instantly transport you to a different part of the world and time. Some of these youtube vidsmay have the incorrect names as the track-listing is slightly different to the LP
There weren't too many samples out there so I put some of my own together

This was my Christmas present find if anyone read the story in November and I scored a copy, near mint for £35! Not quite as good as my First purchase though of £5 on ebay for Flesh for Frankenstein. I don't feel I can choose one album without the other so I'm having a bit of a cheat! :) :) ;)

Deep Cut Record #11.5 - Claudio Gizzi - Flesh for Frankenstein

Again the theme tune is a stunning piece of work, simple but effective, also this album is very special to me as it reminds me of when my daughter was born, so in a weird way it's her theme not Frankensteins :)

Beautiful post @dagar - worth the wait!

I do already know the LPs, but your passion and enthusiasm for them has had me scrabbling for my (sadly digital) copies like a relapsed dope fiend.....

I go for Flesh personally - though there really isn't that much in it. Must be because of that time I fucked death in the gall bladder!

A few years ago, a dream of mine finally came true -- I've wanted to see the original 3D Flesh for Frankenstein for over twenty years, and I'm a huge 3D nut anyway! Channel Four here in the UK produced a season of 3D film and tv programmes, and used a special cyan/orange anaglyph colour separation which worked like gangbusters! You picked up the glasses from Sainsburys supermarket, and they bloody well showed Flesh for Frankenstein! It was....incredible.

Unfortunately, I've spent the last few years trying to track down ANYONE who managed to record/digitize the broadcast somehow....no luck so far :(

As for the music...I got distracted but I'm going to throw it on in a while, and I'll report back at some point with my thoughts. I love it though, and am pretty damn envious of your wax @dagar ;)

Cheers @disco at least someone likes it! I vaguely remember that 3D week, yes would have been great to see. Maybe you could get hold of it and do one of your film evenings.

Never heard of them before. Really liking what I here from the youtube clips.

What's the andy warhol tie in? Was he involved in the film production somehow?

They were produced by Warhol - director Paul Morrissey had close ties to The Factory / he discovered VU!

Trivia:

Roman Polanski is in Blood for Dracula!

And:

Morrissey later directed Hound of the Baskervilles with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore -- which is either stultifying beyond believe, or utterly batshit hilarious...depending how much anti-freeze you've been drinking!

Nice. I been exposed to all of these films and music for a long time since I live in Pittsburgh. I visit the amazing Warhol museum frequently.

I don't have this vinyl, I do own Frankenstein though.

Cool pick.

Yup, great pick, I imagine these will be new to a lot of board members and may inspire some spirited digging to find copies. I have Flesh For Frankenstein on vinyl and Blood for Dracula has been on my wish list for a while.

I really love the music, but am completely unequipped to say why. :)

I haven't seen the movies in many years, but I remember really liking them. The first time I saw them was as a kid watching heavily edited cuts on cable (maybe the USA channel?) with some spirited pan and scan to keep the naughty bits off screen. The Criterion Collection had editions of both of them out at some point.

Dagar

Really interesting that you have never seen the movie but chose the score...

That is an odd concept for me personally but I can't blame you for loving the scores

both brilliant .

You should track the films down , absolutely two of my faves. Dracula is beautiful to look at is just the rights side of camp.

These are my versions of the films on Blu.

I think my friend Marc may have tape of the Channel 4 3D broadcast let me ask him on Facebook

Wow they look really cool! yes I always intended to watch them, they always appealed to me, and of course Andy Warhol having a way of seeing. I do quite often hear the score to a film before watching it, especially these days and even more so with so many top labels releasing and introducing new stuff to me. Have to watch late evenings though with a little girl and a wife who only appreciate's psychological horror. Glad you like them would be amazing as a double up! ;)

@Dagar - Since I started the store I really thought I'd have 'bought' more for myself than I have.

Aside from some of the Dagored titles which I would have bought anyway my spending has virtually stopped.

I'm sure this won't last though ;)

I'm pretty sure my wife will be happy to see this come in the mail. And if not, I can just look away from her, repulsed, and scream, "This whore's blood is killiiing meeeeeee!"
