@ ghostfires - there's a few Sky Records compilations out now that heavily feature Cluster/ Harmonia members (plus Eno). I got 1A when I picked up Bing & Ruth last week, and will be in tomorrow to pick up the others. Definitely more wayward and experimental than ambient in tone, but great wonky listening all round. Also at Boomkat (links below)

First is a two parter by Time Gane of Stereolab: Kollektion 01A/ 01B

Second is a Roedelius only compilation by Llyod Cole, called, cunningly, Kollektion 02

Here's a massive recommendation. Hauntingly beautiful, bring a tear to your eye!

I've got this on cassette, and it sounds unbelievably good. This is one of the best ambient/new age albums I've picked up in quite a while...some of you might be into this...

I blame Mr Ball's enthusiasm for forcing me to buy a ticket to see this lot at a small venue in London the other Friday... perfect Friday 5pm listening (unless that is you're getting ready for a big night out...)

It was part of a season on Minimalism at King's Place, near King's Cross. This YouTube movie from France last November is pretty close to the set up and set list I saw. One of the guys even ended up horizontal on the floor during the last number.

Totally agree r.e: the Kiasmos album. Gonna see them live in Iceland in a few months.

Also, it should be noted that the AWVftS LP is actually a co-release with Kranky in the US, so no need for US folks to order it from Erased Tapes.

You're a God damn jet setter. And a money saver. Off to Kranky I go.

I think Popol Vuh would fall under this category sometimes. As mentioned in the first post, Stars of the Lid are the masters. Tim Hecker is also very good.

I've done some stuff that probably fits in this category:

(And apologies for the self-promotion, it seemed relevant and won't happen again).

I write for a website called Fluid Radio. They tend to have a lot of great ambient/drone/minimal electronic music being reviewed and have a store as well.

Very cool, that's a great site. I actually made a mix for it a few years ago:

Didn't know where else to put this, but might interest some on here – A Correction by Fieldhead is something that has got many spins here at Zuko Towers over the last few years and the wax has just been reduced by the label to a fiver. Recommended to all fans of that Erased Tapes sound.

The Still Heat cassette/digital label have been putting out some very good drone/ambient/noise music for a while, check them out at http://stillheatrecordings.bandcamp.com/
Also, you should check out Joseph Curwen http://josephcurwen.bandcamp.com/ who has put out a vast amount of drone/ambient/field recording/noise sounds, sadly all digital only afaik.

You could also do a lot worse than check out the wonderful Jodie Lowther https://jodielowther.bandcamp.com/album/circles-holes who has made some great ambient/psychedelic /noise music. Her Circles & Holes cassette/digital release is a delight.

Thought this thread could do with a kick up the arse :)

Been enjoying this wee beauty of late... it's from 2014 but that doesn't matter...

A Course In The Theory Of Drones by Percival Pembroke

This from the b/camp page..
a comprehensive introduction to modern ambient / drone theory with an emphasis on tape degradation and memory loss, suited to complement a first-year undergraduate course

Tasty short but sweet collection and it's pwyw @ https://percivalpembroke.bandcamp.com/a ... -of-drones
