DISCUSS TANGERINE DREAM HERE.....

I just own The Sorcerer soundtrack on recommendations from those on this forum.

Is that the best one and I don't need to bother with any others?

@spun you need all Tangerine Dream up until 1990's. Soundtracks try Near Dark and Firestarter

Thief is great.

I think thief is the best one but you can't really go wrong with most of the soundtracks. The regular albums are a bit of a mixed bag.

My favorite stuff from them are the amazing scores that tend to get lost in most TD discussions.

The Park Is Mine

Three O'Clock High

(this track is oddly credited to TD at the beginning of the film but it's Jim Walker, and it rules)

Risky Business (more a collection of earlier work, but still great)

Love the Risky Business score. In fact just packed that to take with to to Helsinki this weekend to play before Fabio Frizzi takes the stage !
So much more to them than Sorcerer (even though that is freaking ace)

Have to agree with the @jaiden. Grew up getting excited by 80s TD scores, Risky Business is still one of my all timers. Lots to enjoy in their scores for lesser flicks!

Also gave TG - Exit side B a ton of spins this week.

And I keep saying (but nobody is listening!), their recent score for GTAV is vintage, solid gold TD!

Seriously - give this some love guys!

Yeeeaaarh The Tangerine Dream (what William Friedkin calls them) on Risky Business is great but everything else on the album is dog poop right?

@dagar, granted it just my opinion, but no, it's not all dog poop :)

@tim I will give it another listen, guess growing up with Phil Collins on the radio all the time kinda put me off this sort of thing, but tastes do change as we mature, I'll probably love it now! I just remember thinking the tracks got in the way of the music but it has been a while since I've listened to it and it was always all about TD for me.
Never heard of this one until a few weeks ago

@dagar, here is what I wish, I wish they had put all the TD queues on side 1 and the other stuff on side 2. I hear ya about Phil, kinda feel that way about Segar and Journey. But I think Muddy Waters, Jeff Beck, and Prince are all worthy.

I own every single album on vinyl, including all soundtracks, from Tangerine Dream. I also own all side project albums from each of the various members. I am addicted to TD, and have been since I was probably 14/15....so nearly 20 years now! What do you wanna know about 'em...?!

I have to mention this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCItnKrXvMM

My intro to TD - I recorded the theme using a tape deck with mic held up to the TV.

Then, I saw them live in Birmingham UK in 1986 - I was 15, and significantly the only person under 40 I reckon! They played using huge stacks of gear like monoliths, flashing bleeping towers of electronics.....

My TD love just bloomed from there.....

Ah yes, Streethawk...not a patch on knight rider or airwolf (now there's another stonking theme) to my then sub-teenage mind but the theme is fantastic.

Streethawk is great. I always loved Shy People too...it rarely gets any attention, unfortunately.

I think if you guys are really into the TD music - you should definitely dig into the solo music of Edgar Froese, if you haven't yet. I own all of his albums, every single one is worth owning, and he has a very cool electronic soundtrack for a very unknown film, Kamikaze 1989.

Kamikaze '89..... Rainer W.Fassbinder's final acting role. I'd forgotten about this movie. Digging the soundtrack a lot Ghost! Going to have to keep my eyes and ears open for it when at my local.

You guys can find that soundtrack for fairly cheap on Discogs. I think they go for around $12-20 usually. Not too bad for a fairly rare soundtrack!

@ghostfires, you know Stuntman is one of my favorite related releases. By the way, how many TD albums were on vinyl? It must be a ton.

Following information posted on the previous TD thread I bought Thief and the sorcerer but also picked up Underwater Sunlight and Rubycon all under £5.

Love the intro to Thief (beach theme) really great electro prog. Underwater Sunlight is ace, headphones on lights dim, great album.

Im definitely on a mission for more.
