Good friend of ours and Spencer's FILMS ON WAX - is a UK on-line website / blog that specialises in Movie soundtrack reviews & features.

They always have good stuff being published - a lot of which goes under the radar ; For example a couple of weeks ago they put up an incredibly insightful Cliff Martinez interview .

check them out :http://www.filmsonwax.co.uk/

The Martinez interview is great & the buying advice is appreciated.

Would love to see a Clint Mansell interview, having seen him live this week... and how about more detailed features on DW, OWS, Cineploit, Priv4te and the like too?

Been getting into the old Giallo scores from AMS/Cinevox lately - and this article from FOW is a good primer:LINK

They also did a nice interview with the guys at invada which I posted on the invada General thread back in July (on page 3)

Or on their website http://www.filmsonwax.co.uk/catching-up ... a-records/

One thing i would say about the reviews is they are called Film on Wax which would assume they are reviewing vinyl, however the items reviewed are not actually available.

Unless of course I am not looking hard enough but I have been scouting for both Penny Dreadful and Snowpiercer. Both excellent soundtracks but i don't think either are available.

Read a few articles so far and I like it! Nice to see some deeper analysis of soundtracks as opposed to shallow descriptions of color variants and pressing numbers. :)

@invadauk

Great stuff... I enjoyed Clint's introductions/stories behind how he came to work on various soundtracks almost as much as the subsequent performances of his tracks, so sure that will be very interesting. Seems like the kind of bloke it would be great to share a chat and a pint with...

Also, it is a long way from 'Beaver Patrol' to Grammy nominations, so a little about how he got from there to here would also be fascinating ;)

^^ Beaver Patrol ^^ lol. Classic. I think I owe it to myself to dig out some old PWEI cds for a spin.

Not Films on Wax, but rather Andy Votel picking his top 15 horror soundtracks - another interesting read:

Me three. Was at the Mansell gig also and have to say it was both varied and impressive.

Hi folks, thanks for the nice words. In regards to reviewing stuff on vinyl we are trying to make it a major part and are happy for any feedback. On the level, we don't get promo LPs so everything reviewed is either bought or stuff we've contributed to some way (disclosure is on our about page). Thankfully we do get digital promos and CDs, so we're able to have our pulse on the film score world, both new and reissues.

That said, if anyone here fancies a shot at reviewing the stuff they buy, let us know, we'd be happy to include you.

Enjoyed listening in on the Films on Wax website itself... the more film soundtrack enthusiast podcasts the better, I guess. The 'Whispering Bob' style delivery - making this a good night time listen as you're drifting off - also made for a nice contrast with the Damn Fine Podcast guys.

Hopefully this town is big enough for both. :)

Didn't go a bundle on the Last Starfighter samples - too bombastic and string laden for personal taste - but also hoping the original Mad Max score gets some deluxe love from our soundtrack overlords at some point soon.

A real pleasure listening to the new podcast episode on my commute. Who knew the Big Bad Wolves score was so lush, will definitely be bagging now. And you're a lucky man to get hold of a copy of Fury! Did you ever get any more info from VS about it being released over here?

Thanks for the comments - I think sadly VS's releases are US only this year - hopefully that'll change at some point as they seem to be becoming more globally aware.

Here's our new podcast, this episode is all about songs from eighties genre movies.

Incidentally, we've had to remove us from itunes for the time being due to the way we play the tracks in full.

12 mins in, and loving it. That Fire Inc. track is incredible. Have passed on "Streets of Fire" in many a dollar bin. Next time, I certainly won't.
